I know for most farmers it would be a long list.I was thinking of mine in my mind, its not that long.Dont even know if there is enough for an auction.

Heres what I came up with

2008 chevy silvarado 160,000 miles

Tractors
1950 Ford 8n nice shape,new tires

1973 Ford 2000,,1600 original hrs

1 bottom dearborn 3pt plow
2 bottom Ford 3pt plow

3 pt Ford disc harrow

3 pt Ford 50 inch rototiller

3 pt york rake

3 pt grader blade

3 pt boom lift

3 pt carryall

heavy duty two wheeled wagon for tractors

small trailer to carry lawnmower etc,

club car gas powered golf cart with aluminum dump bed

exmark 4 ft walk behind lawn mower

troybilt horse tiller

small sears tiller

honda harmony tiller

3 small chainsaws,weedwackers

lots of metal scaffolding

ladders, heavy shop vise, various hand tools and hardware

Is that enough for an auction?

Most auctioneers would tell you to bring it to one of their regular consignment sales or combine it with another auction. Hard to
get much crowd with a small listing.

I think you would be ahead to just sell thru Craigslist....

I think I will just let the auctioneer earn his money :)

I did in 88 and kicking it around again. Tryed craigs list and in classifieds on here. Took couple tractors to consighment sale brought scrap price. Ya non runners bad tires.

A sale the size that you are talking Larry, around here it would be held at 6:30 pm on
a Friday evening in May or June. These kind of sales are always well attended ,
because everyone knows the sale will be over by dark. So there is no fooling
around. And you know when it will end. May and June are also ideal months to sell the
sort of items you have listed. I would not want to make up a sale bill like that to
auction my own farm equipment , way too much stuff .

Nope.

I'm the third generation of ag hoarder on this farm, never been a sale in that time. Over a century.

There is stuff along the walls I probably haven't seen behind the stuff dad hung up that I've covered with my stuff.

Wife will end up having to have a 2 day sale, the crappy farm equipment one day, and the many hayrack loads another day.

Larry,
My kids will be writing my auction list.
Come to think of it they wouldn't know what half the tools I have are called, they would have to rely on the auctioneer to write the list.

I was talking to my son the other day about the old toys in the basement that I've had for the past 40 years, Old Rockola Juke box, 8 ft slate pool table, pinball, and bally bowling machine. He said dad, they might be sold with the house.

I recently gave my granddaughter my brown top foosball table for her 13th birthday. She loves playing it.

Sir, A professional auctioneer would take several pictures of these items and do a complete
listings of each major item. His listings will give more details for the buyers attention.
He/She and/or his staff will do a consignment sheet WITH you and list selling points for the sale.
This sheet will also give their selling precentage charges and any other info for YOU to know before
reaching the floor. Read your selling contract and the contents listed and question anything that you
are unsure of before signing.
He/She could combine your items with other sellers items which would make up their general weekly sale.
May I suggest Auction-zip.com. When typing this in use your state, (as an example, for me it would be
Auctionzip.com/ga). This will open up with a request for your Zip code to locate auctioneers and sales
in your general area up to a hundred miles or more. Just click on a date on the monthly calender which
shows how many sales in the area you choose 30 miles, 50 miles etc.

Good luck, Jack

Local auctioneer (older fella, and I only attend his
auctions) lists the sale as "Small sale, be prompt"
which means won't take long.

You are way to descriptive in your auction listing. The auctioneers around here tend to be very vague. Chevy Truck, two Ford tractors, lots
of 3 point tools, 3 gas tillers, hand tools, golf cart, lawn mowers, and assorted scrap. This would be the listing around me.

I think an auctioneer would have a simple time with my stuff. He'd say lots of trash, couple treasures. You decide which is which.

That'd be like writing my own obituary. I'll let my kids take care of it after I'm gone.

Also around here auctioneers are lazy. 3pt? grab them all. "Set of 3pt implements". Results in lower overall bid for items that should be listed separately. "Throw that dewalt drill in with that drywall hanger".

I'll attend for some nice deals, but I'd never hire one to sell my stuff.

I had to take foosball table apart to get it out out of basement. The same with the rest of the toys. The pool table is one inch slate. It was assembled in basement. It will be a lot of fun just to take it appart. Not to mention getting it up the stairs .

Your description is pretty darned good, but I, being an auctioneer, prefer to list the sizes of things like plows (12" 14" or 16 etc. and the width of things like grader blades, That way buyers have a better understanding of what you're selling versus what they may be looking for. That's just the way I do it, others in other locations do it differently. Keith

Round here you can come up with auctioneers who would do that list justice and others who would list "good stuff" and try to combine it with other "stuff".

Don't give up Larry!
