About every 3 months we get the same sounding foreign guy 'Calling from windows" because there indicates errors and he needs to log into our computer or it will freeze and loose all data lol We either hang up on the guy or if we have a minute will string him along till he hangs up on us lol, prevents him from having more time for his next potential victim and we get a laugh out of it too. Also had a guy saying the UPS truck is 15 minutes from our door with 1.5 million dollars and he needed $7500 over the phone to release the funds, I offered him half of it if he'd agree to waive the "release payment" he refused so I hung up on him. He called right back wondering why I hung up, I said because it's a scam, he wished me a good day and said good buy, at least he was polite lol.

My area code is unique to a large rural area. So any calls from away I don't answer seems to be working. If it legit they will leave a message.

That's the way I do it. If they're legit, they'll leave a message on voice mail.

Ditto, BUT, the horspitatle calls for the wife to take a shift every other day. Depending on her mood, we answer or go to voice mail. The first twinge of an automated voice - clunk. The last time the 'Windows' guy called, I was so rude and nasty (smiling and laffing inside) they haven't tried for at least a year - told the wife and she laffed her butt off !

I get them all the time. Most of them try to tell me my wife ordered something. I tell them that's hard to believe. Since she died ten years ago. Some hang up and some still try to convince me she placed the order.

Caller ID - best thing you can get on a phone.I do't answer any call I don't recognize. Worst case it really is someone I want to talk to and they leave a message.

Decades ago, before the advent of caller-ID, I got a sales call from a woman who wanted to sell vitamins. She started off by asking me how my day was going and I replied and asked her how her day was going. We talked a little bit and then she started her sales spew. She told me that muscles actually deteriorate after you workout and your body rebuilds them by making them bigger. (That is somewhat true. That's how body builders get so bulked up) I was on a workout program at that time and I agreed with her. She told me that her vitamins cost a couple of hundred dollars for a 30-day supply and I told her that the price was fine with me. After casually talking to her for about 15 minutes and listening to how good her vitamins were, she said that she was going to transfer me to another person to complete by credit card transaction. I then told her that I never had any inclination of ever buying any of her vitamins. There was a 4-5 second pause and then she asked me why I wasn't going to buy any of her vitamins. I told her that if she was going to call me and waste my time, I was going to hang on the phone for as long as it takes to completely waste her time.
She then went on a tirade of cuss words that would make a sailor on shore leave jealous. That actually made my day.

I've talked to that guy !! I let him lead me along for a minute , then say "Are you sure you can fix an Apple ? They get really irate !!

I get a lot of those calls , like the guy selling alarm systems. I told him I didn't need an alarm as I had a big dog and a little dog to wake the big one up, and also a 12 gage shotgun. I thought I had him untill he asked if the dogs could dial 911? Still didn't make the sale. Sometimes you just got to have fun. joe

I have one of those aerosol boat horns. They usually don't call back. Probably cleans their ears out really well

My wife gets the one where they call and can see on your computer screen that you have issues. She then asks them are you sure you can see my computer? When they say yes then she says good can you tel me where it is at because it was stolen 2 weeks ago and the police are looking for it. They usually hang up pretty fast.

I don't get those calls. My mother in law gets em all the time. Last week she got one of those "grandma, this is your oldest grandson and I need some help cause I've been arrested" calls. Funny part was he, the oldest grandson, my oldest boy was setting with her visiting with his 2 daughters when the call came in!

Caller ID is great, if it is an out of area number it goes to voicemail where they can make their pitch if legit.....

Quite a few years ago I got a letter with a silver dollar in it. It was from a chemical company of some sort. Next day I got a call from this company asking me if I got the silver dollar. This guy then tried to sell me some kind of a powder to pour in my manure pit to stop odors. I told him I don't have a pit, I raise my hogs with bedding. He didn't believe me and kept after me trying to throw a guilt trip on me acting like he couldn't understand why I would not buy his powder after he had given me this money. I finally said hey mister, I told you I don't have a manure pit and hung up on the guy. Still have the silver dollar though.

Simple solution, I never answer my house phone ever, caller can leave a message, on my cell phone which showes callers number, if I don't know the number I don't answer it, if it's someone I know and don't want to be bothered I don't answer, works for me!

Don't get many scams, but plenty of collections calls. I think the collectors are legit. I just wish Taiesha would give out someone else's number...

You are sadly mistaken, sir.
You can make as much noise as you please on YOUR end. However, the telephone equipment is NOT CAPABLE of reproducing that level of sound at the caller's end. All the caller gets is an annoying noise that is simply not loud enough to "clean out his ears" or otherwise.

Don't believe me? Try this: the loudest noise your equipment is capable of generating is the phone company's "receiver off hook" noise. That is as loud as it gets. See if that "cleans out" your ears.

The automated calls have pretty much quit, since the election is over. We do the same thing as many- look at the caller ID and don't answer if we don't recognize the number. Ol' Newt was about the only one who would leave a message on the machine- the others just hang up if you don't answer.

They can also make them any town they want. I get several a week. Texas town but the phone number is not from Texas.

I never get phone scams because I won't answer the call if I don't recognize the number.

I get between 2-4 calls daily I don't answer. Robo calls never leave me a voice message.

Last week I got a call from two different Travel brokers like you see advertised on tv, and one from a cruise line. These were on the work phone. I think someone prior to me used that phone to order something. On my personal phone I got a call telling me I could get my student loans reduced or gotten rid of. I don't have and never have had student loans. What a waste of time.
