What are your thoughts on the make of this beast? Looks to me like it has two exaust stacks, would this have been one of the models with the V-8's in it? What do you think it is worth? Owner wants $1000 for it "as is", I am trying to figure out what all is wrong with it. Tires would be worth WAY more than that, IF they are in good shape.

how come the owner dont know what tractor he has??? at a quick glance it almost looks like the versatile 145 , but im sure its not. why didnt you look at it for the model?

Good call! I googled AC 440, and I think it is a near perfect match! Stacks are wrong on this one, but that doesn't surprise me. TractorData says that they only built 1033 of them? Is it a rare bird you guys think? I see one heck of a snow pusher!! :)

Looks to me like an an Alice Chompers "440".

They were by by Steiger in Fargo, as were the IH's of the era, although I believe it would be closer to s Steiger than an Steiger built IH.

I toured the plant in the era they were building them.

What ya gonna haul it with Bryce?

I got the B&W gooseneck hitch in my Duramax today, so if you know someone with a tandem dually trailer I can pull it for ya...

I appreciate the offer! Might take you up on it actually!

IF I can get it, and if it runs, I will try to drive it to a friends place in Spokane, and then decided what to do with it from there I suppose.

I doubt it runs for that price....

Yes,its a 440 AC..Several new ones were sold in my area and the V-8 Cummins
wouldn't stay together...A neighbor put a 855 Cummins in his..

1033 AC 440's were built and they sold new for $38,000..They have some collector value.
About 8 years ago I found a low hour one in KS and told about it on here..
An AC collector contacted me and bought it..

I'm guessing that you are right..Theres a reason that its priced that low..
I like AC's but the 440's had their problems..

There was one of those that showed up on a local consignment auction for several years. The last sale they had, they finally turned loose of it for $4400.

Looks to have been sitting for some time......money pit comes to mind, but you may get Lucky! Ben
