Rusty Gold?

Hello

Spotted this Caddy outside an upholstery shop down Jersey way. I think it is a 1947 series 60 special.
Rust bucket in and out. The tree shifter must not work, as there was a floor shift in it. Open windows so I peaked in. The shifter was mounted right on top of the tranny and I could see right through the floor boards, as there was no trim cover for the shifter. looked like a daily driver to me,

Most likely has a later engine and transmission in it. Converting a "tree" shifter to a floor shifter on something that old would be more work than its worth. Dropping a decent running stock 350 and a 4 speed from an old pickup would give that thing more power than it ever dreamed of back in 1947.

It's really neat, Guido!

I didn't even know that Cadillac's ever came with rounded fenders. Guess I thought they always had fins.

Hello sweetfeet,

Fins started in the 50's I think. Anyhow I though it was a neat car. Happy rust hunting,

Guido.

Hello old-9,

Maybe not ten but at least 5 or six. The guy owns an upholstery shop, and the interior looks like mouse heaven,

Fins started in 48 and ended in 64. I have had this car over 50 years, restored it in 90-92,labor of love never again.

Hello oldseebee,

That is why I said I think? I was in the old country then, made it across the pond in 1961. From the fifties to the seventies I can tell pretty much what year. After that they all look alike. My body had a 58 four door Caddy. your 59 is looking REAL good...........
