just being dumb and put about 4-5 oz of 90w gear oil in to top off my torque tube on my 1955 case vac 14. I guess I better drain/replace the hydraulic fluid & filter asap. the gear oil should go in the tranny fill hole I hope...

We say, don't worry because half a cup isn't enough to cause any harm on a system that holds nearly 2 gals.

Thanks guys! I'll make sure from now on when I top it off, i'll use hydraulic oil. I put some barrs leak in the radiator and topped it of with anti freeze mix. it was low about a quart or more. just getting things ready for some box scraping this month. smoothing out a large section of hillside.

A good rad.sealer that I use is called Mendite. It is liquid form and works wonders. I get it at my local Carquest. An old rad.repair man got me onto this. Will work for seeping head gaskets also. Good product.

90W gear oil is the same viscosity at 40W motor oil. Hydraulic oil is 20W or 10W in engine oil terms. No big deal.

The pump on my dc is weak so I mix 80/90 with hyd oil for it. Been doing it for 20 years successfully.
