STWSACTAFEC Plow day

We held our plow day today at the 4 E Dairy and almost got skunked for the 3ed time in 4 years. The field we normally plow was too wet but the owners came up with another field that was plowable. Some of the guys chose not to get their equipment all gummed up but a few of us dug in. First pic is my son Barry with his MF 65. The second is fellow YT'er Kelly in TX and I. The 3ed is a member with a different sort of roll over plow. This one doesn't rotate, it tumbles over like a tumble bug. Sticky but the weather was great.

Here are a few more I just got from a friend. My son and I making history. Probably the first and only time 2 Massey's plowed the same field in Lavaca County ever.

IH # 39 Two Way.Commonly known as a tumble,or tumble bug plow.Made from '39,up to the early 60s.Their primary porpose was to plow with out leaveing dead furrows and crowns.A necessity on flood orrigated ground.I have one. Use it once a year at plow days. It's a real 'hoot' to play with.

JDBRIDER,some of the letters are for: South Texas Wheel Spinners And Crank Turners. The rest I dunno. I DO know it was good to meet a couple of "neighbors", especially WJYTEXAS as I learned of this club and plow day from his recent post. Kelly in Texas.

Wet? What do ya mean wet? Heck, don't even see any water in the furrow. Don't see any tow chains there for pulling each other out of the mud either. And no tractors hooked together with a long chain so that one is always on firm ground so you can get done before freeze up.

My uncle bought a new MF 65 just before silo filling time in the fall of 57. I was 13 years old and got to pull wagons in from the field with it. Wished I had the serial number off of it. It had to be low.

In reply to a couple of posts: the club is the South Texas Wheel Spinners and Crank Twisters Antique Farm Equipment Club based at the Old Moravia Store in Lavaca County. Probably the longest club name in the country. The Cahloupka family operates a dairy. A few years back to generate cash flow they put in a corn maze - hence the corn. They switched back to Jersey cows to get a better price for the milk without having to increase the herd. Their newest venture is cheese making with a fellow making specialty cheese on site. Surviving thru diversity. I'm proud to say my Dad, Vo Ag teacher, taught the 3 brothers.

yeah, you guys need help from an acronym expert

A friend used to belong to the SPEBSQSA- the Society for the Preservation and Enjoyment of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, I always liked that one!
