Spent the Day Streaking!

Windows that is...

What a horrible job! Washing windows! Not what I want to do when I grow up!

I recently bought a house to use for rental property. Decided to take advantage of the warm day to pull all the screens, wash the filthy windows that probably haven't been cleaned in 20+ years.

Started with the pressure washer, just to get the loose dirt out of the tracks and sill, pressure washed the screens.

Then went to work on the glass... Heavily stained with hard water deposits on the outside, smoke and who knows what on the inside.

I never did find anything that would get the water deposits off. Tried Windex, foaming window cleaner, vinegar, CLR, even pink foaming acid toilet cleaner. Seems the news paper trick doesn't work like it used to, guess they changed the ink. Nothing fully cut it!

I though I had gotten them somewhat clean, until the sun started hitting them! What a horrid mess!!!

I couldn't spend any more time on it, so I put the screens back on, called it good enough.

Anyone know of any special witches brew that works? LOL

Bon-Ami window cleaner will be a good start. Lime away (rubber gloves and quick rinse for tough deposits. Jim

Yes it is a mild abrasive and sort of grinds the crud off. Ammonia too. When I was a teen my uncle gave my mom his older car. He smoked cigars. Have you ever tryed to get cigar smoke off of the glass in a car and also the vinyl head liner. "Spray Nine" worked pretty good but it had a lot of ammonia in it. Guess who got the job?

I have just lately found a product actually called "Glass Wax"..found it at the local Zettlers Hardware..

SO easy and NOT ONE Streak on any of 2 Jeeps and one car and it was EASY..

Just wipe it on ( even in Sunshine), wipe the film off, lightly polish with a Micro Fiber cloth and Perfection..!

I wonder, is there still a Household window cleaner anymore..???

We used it often when we were kids, using Stencils to decorate for Christmas..

I lent the plactic container out but will have it back soon..I could give the Manufacturer..
