Hello All
Need help on 8n head, started changing spark plugs and two of
them twisted off in head, can anyone tell me the best way to get
them out? Have soaked the head for 2 days in diesel & gas but not any help. Any suggestion would be very helpful.

Just in case Old is busy, I'l tell his secret, use ATF, and if you have any acetone mix a little with it. But you should of used something BEFORE you
broke them off! When we had our IH 340 it took me 2 days to change plugs. One of them was stuck so I started soaking it, finally it would wiggle back
and forth a little, and finally it came out. I was using the tractor a little so it was warm sometimes, that helps. Good luck!

Blow the diesel gas mix out of the way and put some PB blaster on them. Can you get it running on the 2 that are left as to warm up the engine ?

If they actually twisted off then you likely have nothing to use to remove them. So may as well pull the head and drill them out and do a valve job while at it.

We had a car come into the shop one day that the guy had tried to change the plugs and broke two off. WE got the car on the hoist where we
could see the broken off plugs from below. We used the torch with the brazing tip and got it on the broken plug, heated them red hot and
doused them with cold water. The broken off plugs came out easily. We then got an air gun in the plug hole and blew out any water or debris.
Thats one method. My sil called one Sunday to ask me how to get a broken plug out. I went back with a set of easy outs. We managed to get the
largest easy out into the broken plug, tapped it tight with a hammer and using a vice grip we got it out. Taking a head off and drilling is
risky in that the threads could be compromised. Try one of these methods,if not keep soaking with penetrating oil and be patient

What size is the holes where the plugs screw in? Want to get a tap to rethread them when I get them out.
Thanks

Gas and diesel will not help any and more likely to make it worse not better. As been said soak with ATF. Also since you have the head off already find a large washer and weld it to what is left of the plugs and then weld a large nut to the washer let cool some and then remove the broken off plug

If you have anything left to put a wrench on, heat with a torch, then apply candle wax as it cools. Soaks between the threads to lube them.

Heat is the secret. If you don't have an acetylene torch, take it to somebody who does. With a brazing tip you can focus the heat on the plug, not the head. You'll have to get the plug cherry red, then it will come out. I always have the best results removing frozen fasteners while they're hot, although I know a lot of folks swear by letting them cool off or applying wax.

If there are any threads visible on the inside of the head, clean them up good with a wire brush before you do anything. You don't want any interference from crud on the threads.

The biggest challenge is going to be getting a grip on what's left of the plug. Chances are there isn't enough left of the plug to weld anything to. This is one of the few cases where I'd recommend using an easy-out. Get the plug good and hot (CHERRY RED), drive the easy-out into it and it should come right out.
