Why don't fellow members put their location in their profile? It would be nice to know atleast what state you're in.

I agree, a lot of message boards under the members names has a location. I'm not looking for a town nessesarily but a state would be nice.
Some members have their location in their names but it's very few. I'd like to see it be able to be provided if a member would like too,

Thank-you. I was thinking of looking the map up but it would be much easier to look at their title or go to their profile.
I didn't have mine on at first but realized it and later put it on. Maybe they just haven't got round to it.

I like the post that says I'm looking for a widget for a Case tractor can someone tell me where to get one. No telling where the poster lives lives..... Well I've got one in the garage, and if I knew you lived two miles away I would bring it to the nearest diner. BUT since you have a secret location I'll just go to the diner alone.

It doesn"t make much sense to give a weather report, crop condition, etc. if there"s no location. Same with looking for big tractor items when shipping cost is a critical factor.

Well, I entered my information only to have my pin located 20 miles in the wrong direction. Now I don't see how to correct it. The zip code is right for me, but no where close to where that zip code is on a map.

Any suggestions? If I have been lazy or ignorant in how to fix it I'm sorry in advance!

How about the post below that announced a
plow day in Texas but gives no location.
That should really boost attendance unless
of course it intentional to keep non members
away.

I hope someone comes on and tells how to move a marker also, mine at the camp in Nova Scotia is in the middle of the lake I would like to move it a little closer.

I use modern view. It gives a profile next to your post and also has a profile link in each post box. If you go to your profile you can enter a location.
I don't use classic view. I will have to look but I guess that's explains why some can not see it.

The worst thing to ever happen to these
boards was to add modern view.
Nothing but problems.
As for knowing my location, it's part of my
handle and I do list it in my profile - Twin
Cities.
If that's not precise enough, deal with it.

My location is part of my handle also (Alberta).
I don't have it in my profile, nor do I have it on the map (my choice).

You need to ask Onefarmer to move your location pin, he is the one that set up the member map

I use modern view and don't remember seeing profiles but then again mine is on the YT map.
Located south/southeast of Lake Ontario in NY

If you really think about it it's none of your business where I'm at unless I'm making a comment on crops, tractor prices or weather. But to keep you happy west MN.....I'm om the map too

You all must be fairly new members. Back when I joined (1996) before handle regristation the owners of this site said DO NOT put your name or location in any posts. I use my middle name for my handle and I have put in my location dozens of times and I am on the map that when I first came on here would not have been allowed. And just a few years ago one of the members that never said anything except what state he is in had posted a picture and someway some body on that picture was able to identify where he is and became a stalker. That is why when things was first started they said DO NOT include any of that information. And I do not use modern (Dumb view)

Well, I have been here a while and never never been on modern view and never will. If my handle doesn't locate me some where in the US, You probably never passed Geography class in High school. Use the MAP, most of us are on it.!!

I use both classic and modern view and have to say I like modern better. Whats not to like about it? I find the posts are more in order and easier to follow. Testing now to see if my location is over on the left..

Some of you seem to misunderstand me. I would like to see atleast what state you are in below or in your name next to the post. It is nice to have reference when you are posting pics or speaking of farming. I don't want you to post your exact address but it would atleast be nice to know what part of the country. For you that do not want to share or use modern view that is fine too. And yes I past geography but that was 30 years ago and I did not have to learn every city and state.

Gee Olliejunkie, I only use the classic view and I see nothing that tells me where you are, not that I care. If I feel it is
pertinent, I will add it to my post. Otherwise, K Sara Sara.

Yes. On the classic you can not see it. There is no need to post it cuz I won't remember anyway. Lol. I used classic for a few days but watched to modern and prefer it. No need to post it. Sorry I stirred things up. 8)

IMHO the worst thing that is happening to this board is hanging on to the outdated Classic Forum!!!!!!!!!!!!

(quoted from post at 11:06:00 11/06/16) To me modern is very hard to follow. Classic is easier.

Modern is easy to follow because any post that has a reply is normally on the 1st page as "replied to posts" rise to the top very similar to the same way cream does on whole milk. On Classic view a "replied to post may be 3 or 4 pages back.

There are a lot of us that don't like that what you do like. If I had to mess with modern I likely would quit being on here.

With all due respect, I doubt that. You contribute a lot to this site. Plus, you are as addicted to it as the rest of us are. If modern was the only option, you would do like everyone else--gripe about it for a couple weeks till you got used to it. By then you'd realize how nice it really is and wonder why you waited so long!

(quoted from post at 09:20:58 11/05/16) Why don't fellow members put their location in their profile? It would be nice to know at least what state you're in.

For some of these guys 'paranoid' is part of their mantra..........go figure! 8) Reading thru to the end I see that this has degenerated to a tussle between 'classic' and 'modern' view proponents.
