Bucket List Lets go to Vienna

The first thing you might say is, why Vienna? I must confess that I have always been a fan of classical music and I have always known that Vienna is the "Super Bowl" of classical music. It is the home of many
of the famous composers and the Vienna Symphony is considered by many as thee finest orchestra in the world. To hear them in person and to realize that depending on what instrument that an individual
is playing, some members are playing as many as twenty notes per second and in perfect timing with every one else. Their talent is something incredible. What I did not realize is the magnificent beauty of
the city itself. The architecture of the churches, cathedrals, concert halls, museums and government buildings of centuries ago along side ultra modern buildings with the Danube River running through the
city. Put this all together with the cleanliness, the music, flowers and the sidewalk cafe's and elegant little tea houses makes for a beautiful city. Take a look at the pictures and see if you can agree.

My wife and I visited Vienna briefly a couple of years ago on a Danube River cruise. The tour of the catacombs under the cathedral was fascinating.

Cool city..right up there with Prague and Berlin. Hope to visit soon and to Budapest. Bratislava and Bucharest. central europe is the new "in place" to visit. 8)

Dad has pictures of when he was stationed in Germany in the 50's. Lots of slides from over 50 years ago. He said a lot of Europe was still rubble from WWII. He and mom traveled most of western Europe then. They were not allowed into some countries also at that time. Had to do with the cold war and the Iron Curtain.

Great pictures! Don't miss the Vienna Riding School and the street mimes. Absolutely wonderful place. Generally hate cities but this one was the cleanest and friendliest I've ever seen.

Fantastic photos!

My mother's ancestors came from Austria and I've always wanted to go there. I was in most of the countries around the Mediterranean when I was in the Marine Corps, but I never got that far inland.

You are very lucky to get to visit all these wonderful places. Austrailia is on my bucket list.
