I have wondered for some time about the spitting and why they do it. Thought it was the
tobacco, then I thought it must be the gum. I think I got it now, it only happens when they have the uniform on, that makes them scratch and spit.

A recruit spit on Parris Island and the DI said why are you spitting that could be the last little piece of nutrition that keeps you alive. That was over 30 years ago and I have only spit a few times since.

A woman up the road had a few that ran loose all the time. One of them grubbed the daylights out of the refrigeration guy's truck one day when he was there working on the bulk tank. That cost them more than just a service call.
