Ya "modern" country doesn't exactly portray clean living God fearing folks like it used to. We blocked the cmt channel because of all the alcohol and 1/4 dressed women in the videos. No fit for school aged kids to be watching anymore,it's not all bad but enough of it is we don't let them watch it in our house.

My wife and I both commented during the CMA how All the Women had see thru dresses on. Wasn't just Beyonce..

For the steel guitars no longer cry and fiddles barely play,
But drums and rock 'n roll guitars are mixed up in your face.
Old Hank wouldn't have a chance on today's radio
Since they committed murder down on music row.

Never missed it years ago, but modern country music isn't music, just a bunch of racket. Haven't watched it for many years. Pete

The radio station out of Fort Dodge,Ia still plays the old "Country Music". Listen to it a lot when in the p.up. Just cannt beat the songs with words that you understand and have some meaning.

Its cultural marxism at work - its the degradation of American society to weaken us from the inside instead of attacking us from the outside... Theres lots of information about it here on the internet [look up Yuri Breznov interview]. Of course it all sucks - its just like hollywood movies or tv "news" now. They're trying to weaken the idea of a family unit, keep women from raising a family, and keep us guys from doing anything worthwhile in our lives. It takes 4-5 generations to work apparently, but they're wearing down the walls slowly.

Been getting into Boxcar Willie lately. Found two CD. and we have a tribute DVD. Just great!

Traditional country is so far from what they play today which is borderline pop and rock. Before the awards I was listening to Hank Snow on vinyl. That 's country. Good to see Buck Owens getting some recognition last night. My wife tells me things evolve but they can evolve and lose their soul. And what happened to that guy Jamey Johnson , he was good country?

This debate has been going on for a long time: heck, even "Murder on Music Row", the song Married2Allis quoted to support his point, came out in 2000.

County has been crossing over to pop, and offending traditionalists, since the days of Hank Williams (SENIOR, that is). Remember tuxedo country, and acts like "Dave and Sugar"?

What's really been changing is the pop music that the New Country is crossing over to get at.

I find myself gravitating towards Americana music, including the Americana Music Awards that are given out in Nashville - at the Ryman, no less - in September. New artists like Jason Isbell are more like country music used to be, and Americana is now the home of folks like John Prine.

Tom Bowman hit the nail on the head. There was a time when Dolly Parton and Buck Owens were too "edgy" for the older folks of the time. By God they were going to be the end of society!

Heck it's not like performers of that generation were poster children for clean moral living. Many of them drank like fish, smoked like chimneys, ****** like rabbits, died too young.

mANY HERE WILL NOT BELIEVE THIS, HOWEVER IN EARLY 70'S I drank a lot of coffee with Dolly. At one time when she was sure of a divorce I did offer to go second on a home loan at our local bank. She rethought the situation and decided to stay in her marriage. This was all when she was in a really rough contract with Porter. Forty years and about one hundred lbs ago she always called me slim.Guess I will always love her for that!!! Her fellow at the time was son of a local minster. It is still not uncommon for her locally to visit a few old friends.

Pretty sad when the two who sound like they belong on a country station were hard rockers in the 90s.

Most of them belong on BET or top 40.

At least a few still remember to wear a straw hat!

Wilson , that is not too far fetched ,,. dolly and porter used to come to Harrison County fair in Corydon , IND. and put on a fine show ,.. that was from about 1967-72 or so ... always wanted to go to Dollywood but my 1st wife was too jealous,,.lol

I watched a few Hank III videos awhile ago, when
he's dressed up he looks an awful lot like his
grandfather and even sounds like him
too,unbelievable
