Ever had this happen

I went into our local subway sandwich shop for lunch. As I am going down the line telling the girl what I want on my sub. I said I want a couple more pieces of cheese. That will be extra, Ok skip it I said. I get to the register I get the change back from a 20. The girl keeps the change. It didn't amount to much, but it would have paid for my extra cheese. Yea I know things must be going good to worry about some change. It's the principle of the transaction that somehow isn't right. Some places have a tip can, I sometimes toss in my change. Stan

I would have called her out on it. It isn't her call what to do with the change. I always wait for my change, even if it's for a penny. Sometimes I say keep it or drop in tip jar, buy it is going to be my choice. I bet they would get uber ------ if the boss took a little off the hours they worked.

A sub is nearly $20 in your area? WOW!I can go to one to the best all you can eat places with steak and seafood for less then $15. Yea I'd of asked for the change

Several years back I had picked up stuff I thought I would need for the day a Lowes. Needed non of it, had the receipt, took it all back. Refund was $.01 less than what I had been charged that morning. I insisted that that was just plain wrong! Cashier finally got mad and threw a penny at me.

I work hard for my money, and expect ALL of my change back when I buy something. IF I feel it necessary to give a tip, I will do so. If not I'd better see every cent owned back to me, or I will be having a talk with the manager.

I posted it because I thought it would be interesting for someone else to read. That's all. I guess I should have asked for the change. It happened so quick I was out the door before I realized what just taken place. Stan

durn , stan ,,, before I was driving yrs ago around these parts,,. when a gal pulled a stunt like that it meant a unspoken open invitation ...THAT , she would be expecting you around back after you finished your lunch , and things quieted down ,. for a little afternoon delight with full treatment .. Sorry Stan , you are getting short changed on the left coast ol Pal ,../ LOl

Any Subway I've ever been in has an automatic coin drop on the side of the register. They only hand you your bills. The coins you have to fish out of the tray after they drop in there. You probably just didn't hear the coins tumble out.

Perhaps it was an honest mistake, perhaps she just wanted to give herself a tip.
The better half and I like to frequent a mom-and-pop establishment to eat. One night I went to the counter to pay my bill. It just so happened that two gals both figured up my bill at the same time without knowing that the other gas was also figuring up my tab. So they BOTH hand me my bill at the same time and the amount was different from each other. So who gave me the correct amount and who was trying to get themselves a tip? This is a place that just writes up everything and then writes the amount on a ticket for the payer to see. I guess I should have each one of them itemize my bill. (Before somebody gets on my case about tipping, if the service is good, I always tip)

Chief,

The [u:b64ebbbf2b]ONLY[/u:b64ebbbf2b] place I ever had that happen was also at a "Sub-Way" here in upstate NY. Can't remember how much...maybe 40 cents or so. I didn't make a "stink"...I guess he felt he was entitled to a tip!! I haven't been back since...but if I should, and it happens again...I will certainly call them on it!
Do ya suppose there was a "memo" from management regarding this?

Sometimes at the dealership I worked at the body shop estimator program would not match the in house system and you could not get that last penny to balance out. Kept a tray of pennies handy to make it balance out.
Same thing at my work now. Sometimes, but not often if we figure a bill manually it won't match the accounting system. Sales tax and the rounding off of it seems to be where the problem lies.

Keeping the change, especially if it's only a couple of dollars, has gotten epidemic these days. It's that "entitlement" generation. Most people are to shocked, or to timid to confront these thieves. And don't tell me, "It's not worth the hassle."

She probably had a Bernie sticker on her moped, too

That will raise a red flag with me. I would ask where is my change and who told you it was your tip. The whole idea of counter service tip jars is annoying . I don't ever remember any counter tip jars when I was a kid. I'm at a counter ordering why do you need a tip? Tell your boss to give you a raise.

Used to be a bar in McCook, you paid your bill then paid cash after karaoke started. They'd mark a drink down on a tab, any tab, didn't matter whose. A couple friends got 4 drinks one night and it cost them $40.
