foot throttle Ford 5000

If you don't get any responses, give me a few days to get over to the other farm where the 5600 is. It had a foot throttle on it, and I took it off. I know exactly where I have it stored, and I'll take a pic for you if you can't find someone sooner that has pics

Had a 5000 and it did not have one, never saw one with it. And I would NOT want one, your ground would have to be pavement smooth for one to work as the slightest roughness will make your foot bounce around and you will not be able to control speed. That is why I WILL NOT have a hydrostatic lawn mower, ground is not smooth enough for that.

My 250C has a foot throttle and I find myself using it far more than I thought I would. I really haven't seen any issue going over rough ground with it because its designed to be under your foot and not in front of it.

I have a 5600 that I installed one on. It is a loader tractor so this was a very good investment. I bought the foot throttle and linkage from a salvage yard, from a 3cyl. ford industrial tractor. I paid 75 bucks for the pedal, linkage and right foot board. I took a small cut off wheel and clipped the welds off the pivot points and welded them to the 5600 right foot board. Took part of a Sunday and we love it now. We had gotten spoiled on tractors with a foot throttle and made using the Ford not as much fun. This was what I would call an easy retro fit. Al

When your foot bounces around when you try to get it on the clutch to stop how is it not going to bounce on a gas pedal?

I can't imagine your foot bouncing that much unless you are going too fast for conditions. I've got a foot throttle on my 4630 Ford and I use it most of the time unless I need a steady rpm. These Ozark hill have some pretty rough ground too.

All of my newr tractors have foot throttles and they are what I use 95% of the time. It is just easier.

I'd be interested in one for my 5200, love the foot feed on the 7700, tw20, and 1720. Never missed it when I didn't have one, but once you get used to it for tooling around the end rows, field roads, choking things up, etc they are handy! The 5200 has the flat deck up higher, so probably be extra special to find something that worked there.

The regular throttle still works like normal, foot feed just can go up from wherever the regular throttle is at. Bumpy field just use the regular throttle like always; tho it's no an issue anyhow.

Can't help you on your 5000 but I put one on my 3000 and use it a Lot.
Next to a hydraulic top link it's the best doo dad I've ever added to a tractor.

they can do as you say for sure,,, I have many with a foot throttle and use them around the yard ect I do not use them when I am "working" the tractor, unit ect that's what the hand throttle is for,,, Both come in very handy to me,,, a lot of construction equipment have only a foot throttle,, for example a scraper,, if you have never ran one you do not know how much They Bounce you around,,, both have their place for sure and uses
cnt

Yup, the "foot bouncing around" is a perceived problem, not an actual problem. When things get that dicey you need to SLOW DOWN because you're going too fast.

Same with the hydrostatic lawn mowers. Most of the time you have the pedal mashed to the floor to begin with. These machines are not exactly speed demons.

Heck the professionals run those lap-bar zero turn mowers way faster than any hydrostatic lawn mower can go, over way rougher terrain, and they don't seem to have any problems.

My mower has the hand control and most of the time it is as slow as it will go, once in a while I might be able to get up to half speed while mowing.

I guess you must be a lot harder on your tractor then me. I generally won't go fast enough over rough ground where that ever became a issue. If I working ground I wouldn't use the foot throttle at all, but for bucket work and transporting it works fine for me.
