OT but I've seen gun messages before. I have one rifle I'd like to sell but can't find a site that isn't hidden fee or sign-up friendly? I have a 1 of 500 Rem. 7600 308 camo carbine, in box, never fired. Thanks Jeff

I agree with John B. I've sold a lot of my stuff there (unfortunately also bought just as much). Just like Ebay, the key is correct pricing; not what sellers are asking but what they are actually selling for.

Do you have a local gun shop with a good reputation, that might give you an honest appraisal of the gun's value?

Heck, even if it's not an honest appraisal, it's a starting point.

I found a listing at Bud's gun shop for a 7600 in .308 with a synthetic stock for $598.

Just checked my gun bible and that one is not listed. May have been a special edition or one made for a specific group like the NWTF.

After looking and seeing the prices vary I would agree around $750 would be fair. I would not sell much below that.

Just my 2 cents

I've also bought off Gunbroker before with no problems--if you have a local dealer you trust they'll often have an account and many will list it for you and handle the paperwork relatively cheaply, which would mean you wouldn't have to get an account of your own. If you do get an account, I believe they require a credit card and will charge it $1.00 to ensure it's active and not fraudulent. Haven't heard of any problems beyond that (the site is long-established and fully legitimate) but wanted to mention it. As mentioned, pay attention to SELLING price, not ASKING price--Gunbroker is full to overflowing with clueless dreamers listing (and re-listing and re-re-listing....) guns for 2-3 times their market value in the vain hope of finding someone even less knowledgeable than them, which means you have to wade through a lot of ridiculous pricing on even common guns in order to find what you're after. Still, you'll find lots of interesting stuff there, and it's a definitely a dangerous site for someone with an empty hole on the gun rack to be on!

Gunbroker is setting prices dealers can get. If it is too high at the gun store the person will just use Gunbroker so the shops have to compete with that.

I bought a dandy of a rifle at gunbroker.com. Easy transaction, great price, limited edition piece so locals didn't have. If I ever go after another oddball, that's where I am headed. I wouldn't take it to Cabelas...

$600. good used ones sell about $450. 30-06 is the most common caliber for that gun. Double that if .222 or .223, both rarities.
