I'm sure this is a problem with a lot of different tractors, so maybe someone can tell me what kind of gasket material to use to keep the gas caps on these Molines from leaking. Maybe something I should be looking for on the filler neck itself? I can't see where they're messed up or bent, unless they're all messed up. Thanks for your input.

Gas caps are prone to leaking from sloshing fuel and weak cap dogs and bent tank flanges. The best gaskets are Buna-N based material or Neoprene. Cork seems to fail from the start. Look at the tank flanges for bent cam lips and flatness of the seal surface. IH is still replacing caps on Farmalls for that reason. In addition, the short caps may have little or no baffling in the dome of the cap letting slosh get to the vent hole. More modern tanks have a baffle or DIP tub in the neck to limit slosh at the cap. Don't fill the tank so full. Maybe 2/3 is a practical limit. Have had that problem with my Farmalls even with their new caps. No so much with my Deere.

Take and exhaust pipe and and smaller pipe sharpen up the edge for gasket cutter and you can cut gas cap gaskets out of cork , inner tube ,leather, double them up, anything you want. One rubber one paper will stop leaking.

At the IH dealer, we had a tool that reshaped the tank neck if it had become out of true. I've never seen one since. It slipped in and tightened. Is such a tool available?

Pilot Knob restorations in Galena Ill sells them and they work real well. I have repaired over a dozen so far.

I would try making the rubber impregnated cork gasket. You can buy rolls of it at your auto parts store. A rubber gasket (depending on the type of rubber)is probably going to swell due to the ethanol.

My Farmall/International A, M, and 886 all slosh and leak if filled to the top. This is with the tall cap. I do like those since there is more for my old hands to grip. The M fits very tight but will still seep. I put the tall cap on the 886 because I thought the old cap was shot. It weeps from the sending unit and fuel cap. I think all of those 86 series did.

If you make the gasket punch I describe and experiment with different materials you will never have a leaky cap. I just keep adding gaskets until I have no leaks . None of my caps leak.
