Low tech security system in an old Jeep

I pulled in to get fuel last night and there was a cool old Jeep sitting there running with the lights on. I got my fuel and after about 10 mins the owner came out. This was in an area of our town you would never dream of leaving your keys in your car much less leaving it running .Lol. No one approached his jeep at all. I told him I liked his security system and he laughed and invited me over to check it out. Nice young man, Said the Jeep had been in his family for many years. In the last year or two him and his grandfather pulled it out of the weeds and went through it. He was very proud of it and showed me all about it. His security system turned out to be just big friendly pups but I can tell you everyone left his jeep alone. Lol. Had a nice visit with him. Nice to see a young man interested in saving old things.

Just it being a manual transmission will keep it from being stolen. Very few can drive one anymore.

Bet he had a 2 part security system as in stick shift. Now days not many people around that can still drive a stick shift and if you have one like I have it is even harder for them.

My Toyota Corolla has 1st 2nd and 5th gear 3rd and 4th are gone and have been for years

Yours is to new. Mine is a 1991 with what should be a 5 speed. But I have a 1990 Corolla SR-5 that has a good 5 speed in it that my wife and son totaled at least 4 times before I parked it and got this one. 3rd and 4th where out of it when I got it but it will do 55 in 2nd so 5th works ok but the clutch is getting bad so I have to drive carefully now. The other one also has a clutch with under 15K mile on it so will do the transmission and clutch at the same time but seem my shop is always full of some one else machine being worked on

I like the color too, but it is also another level security system. The JD green body and bright yellow seats make it instantly identifiable and memorable. It may be the only one like it in the state.

My only problem with that is what keeps them in the back? Earlier this week I shot a pit bull that chased one of our employees out of our storage yard. I was glad it was there and not down two blocks at the local grade school. Still waiting for the guy across the street to come over asking if we've seen it.

Manual transmissions are not very compatible with car thieves, takes effort to drive one. For added protection, just put the transfer case in neutral, those guys would never figure that one out.

I had a Rottie for a couple of years. Inherited him when my daughter opened a Day Care, lost him two years later to cancer.

He LOVED to ride in the truck. You can still leave your keys in the truck around here, but I used to spend a little extra time in the store watching out the window as folks crossed the street to avoid walking by the passenger side door of my truck.

Little did they know the worst he'd have done is slimed them from brisket to eyebrows with that big ol' tongue of his.

Unless they were stupid enough to reach inside the truck. That wouldn't have ended well.
