1066 fire

Found a 1066 cab tractor that had a fire above the fuel tank in front of the dash. 5000+ hrs guy said it did not burn any oil muffler uncoverd for a year. Not sure if iys stuck. Cab is junk so is seat. good rubber and stright sheet metal. any idea wht its worth? scrap here is 45 bucks a ton. He has another running 10 but he did seem interested in selling it.

I worked on a 1486 that had a cab/fuel tank fire couple years ago. Farmer bought it back from ins. company for 2500 bucks. That when scrap was high. Keep in mind the steering control, Clutch assist, All bushings in shifter and park control, hydraulic seat, Gauges n wiring need replaced. Get prices on this stuff before pulling the trigger on this job. Sometimes you get more into one than you could buy a good running one for. Check the rear tires for heat damage. Sometimes the damage is only the size of a bushel basket. If the damage is down when parked you wont see it until you move the tractor. replacing rear rubber can make this job go upside down fast. I would take the value of a average 1066, subtract the parts needed to repair this one, then subtract how many hours you think it will take, then give 15-25% more on time and money for unseen damage. Thats top dollar for what its worth to be repaired. Most yards pay 500-1500 for burnt tractors of this size depending on color and model. Good luck,,, Al
