Item was bought and paid for shipping was stated in the auction listing like a flat rate. Seller was late and slow shipping due to a family emergency now they want more money because shipping cost them more than they put in listing. Example they charged $10 and it cost $15. WELL MY THOUGHTS ARE THE OLD PROVERB; NEGOTIATION SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE THE SALE NOT AFTER. I WELCOME YOUR INPUT.

You can file a complaint with Ebay, most often they side with the buyer. If the item has not shipped yet the sale will most likely be cancelled and your payment refunded.

I recently sold some parts not through Ebay and the shipping was more than I quoted, so I ate it, my mistake, my problem.

I find myself in a similar situation. I won a auction that was listed with free shipping. I believe after the seller went to the post office to ship the item and found out how much it was going to cost, he sent me a message requesting I pay the shipping. I replied that I bid on the auction in good faith and I paid promptly and that I expected him to complete the transaction as it was listed. He became somewhat of a smart-a$$ although in a very polite tone. He hasn't shipped the item, cancelled the sale, or returned the funds through Paypal. I have opened a "request" through ebay. Ebay will not take further action until 10/17/2016. At that point it will be 3 weeks since I paid for the item. I seems to me like the "contract" is far more binding on the buyer than it is on the seller. I will say I have bought a lot of things on ebay with very good results. This is the 2nd time this has happened to me this year. Both times they were sellers with less than 5 positive scores in their feedback profile. The rules seem clear enough to me. There are always going to be those who think the rules don't apply to them. Ron

Always astounds me how many people are quick to run down eBay. It is a fabulous resource. Working on the scale it does, there cannot help but be a few glitches and crazy people involved. The seller should honor his quote...period. Decide whether you want the item enough to pay him extra, though. It could be a simple error due to inexperience on his part. Split it with him or compensate him for the extra...your choice...or stick to your guns and risk losing the item. Depends on what it is and how good a deal it was and how much you need it. Life is short...move on.

The wife has sold about a thousand items over many years. We have a very high seller rating. Very seldom any issues. But some do crop up from as mentioned inexperienced ebayers. Keep track of all corespondance, ebay has it. They will refund your money. It might take a bit. Occasionally the wife has to get on the phone with them. The problem as mentioned the seller may not ship the item. If it's a must have item you may have the option of paying their additional shipping fee. Sucks as it may review all recent sales and the total sales for the seller. This is a great indicator of how smooth the transaction may be, good luck.

I've bought a lot of stuff on EBay, but I always check the sellers rating before I buy. If the seller's rating is much less than 100% and it's an item I have other options on, I'll pass.

I've only had one problem and that was solved congenially.

I have bought Hundreds of items on Ebay and only a couple had a problem. Contacted sell and shiped it back no problem. Had to call them only one time and they put the spurs to the seller real quick!

On the subject of eBay, am I the only one irritated by sellers who sell you something then are out of stock and don't ship for a week or two. Why sell what you don't have.

The seller can't raise the shipping price. I have been buying and selling on ebay since 06. I have had way more trouble with buyers than sellers.

Most common problem is they buy multiple items.Pay for each item Then want combined shipping. That is a money loser for the seller as Ebay won't refund their commission on the shipping fees.

My latest problem. I sold a IHC distributor for a MD. The buyer put in to return it. For some reason ebay granted the return and gave the refund BEFORE the buyer returned the distributor. What are the odds I'll see my distributor?

I found out Ebay has a new return policy. If you sell on Ebay you better check your return policy settings. Ebay set mine so any item under $750.00 was an automatic refund. I lowered it to $1.99.

Once you pay at the end of the auction ; transaction over. This is some type of idiot or inexperienced seller . Don't give them feedback yet.

What are you talking about ? If you combine shipping you pay commission on the combined price not on the original shipping in your ad .

Hahah Classic response . It is like that guy at work the bad mouths computers all day then wants you to look up something on the internet and print it of interest to him . Haha.

No, They buy several items and pay for each item separately. So it's not one transaction. You pay commission on each item and on each shipping price. When you send a refund. Ebay does not give the seller a refund on the commission collected on the shipping. Ebay only refunds the fees if you send a full refund.

I have always combined the shipping on the invoice so it comes up at that price which is what ebay charges for . I also think when I give a refund I get the commission back through Paypal.

You can't combine the shipping on an invoice or send an invoice after the buyer has already paid. That is the problem. They buy an item pay for it. Buy a second item and pay for it. Then buy a third, forth or even up to six items and pay separately for each. That makes each item a separate transaction with it's own invoice/record number. Then the buyer send you a message asking for combined shipping. You cannot combine the shipping after they have paid. You can not send an invoice after they have paid. You have to send a partial refund. Ebay does not refund fees on a partial refund. Ebay only refunds fees on a full refund. Paypal also charges the buyer 2.9% when you send them a partial refund on shipping.

My listings explain how to put items in the shopping cart and then request a total to get the combined shipping. Only one in ten buyers use the cart.

I'm pretty sure this has not happened to me. I'm not getting these fees you are . I have gotten credit for partial refund for shipping overpayment or split amounts of the trnas action.

Funny, something similar just happened to me. I bought an air filter for my combine. It came postage due. I contacted the seller, and told him it cost me an extra $14 to get it from the post office, and I'd be happy to split the cost with him. He sent me a check for the full amount.

Been buying for many years with only a few problems.
Most problems come from low FB sellers.
I buy a lot of chainsaws and such, and if I see a bargain I ALWAYS check the sellers FB rating. I look at the Negatives and Neutrals and see if seller responded.
Red flag jumps up for a seller that is new or has a negative with only selling less the 100 items.
It is also Important to check past FB because after a year, sellers are apparently forgiven for there less then positive FB.
At least, they are not shown on the current page.
Also, I never leave FB for a seller before they leave FB for me.
I have bought over 300 items, and 90% are bought Buy It Now or Best Offer and have only left two Neutral FBs.
I don't get into bidding wars that way.
I have never sold on eBay--too many rules I don't like.
