Last Day of Harvest

For me it was September 30. A nice day in the last canola field. There were only a couple more good days before the rain/snow began and that was the end. Still 4 million acres of canola in the field if the figures I heard are correct. I still have hopes of harvesting my 130 acres of flax this fall but the days grow short.
This was some video I shot from the cab of the 1660 while picking up canola swath.

I finished my 2016 harvest yesterday , baled some hay . You are 100 % correct about peoples attitude about trash, They just don't care . I have no idea how far from town you are , or how much traffic goes by your farm . At least the population density is most likely less then I have to contend with. We have to pick up a lot of litter, and even junk tossed out on the side of the road , tires , TV set bags of house hold waste , diapers , you name it, all matter of crap . My home farm is on the border of town .

Don't know about up there in Canada, but here in Michigan a huge percentage of the trash that's thrown into our fields and roadsides comes from McDonalds. My farm is about 4 miles from the nearest one, but that's just about enough time to eat your fries or sandwich and throw out the bag. I really enjoy your videos, especially after travelling thru Saskatchewan a few years ago.

The last day of harvest was Sept 29 here east of Edmonton. There has always been Oct harvest days available around here but not this year. Almost got the snow of the swaths just in time for the next round of snow. This is one for the record books.

Yes, even though that field is 20 miles from the fast food/coffee shops plenty of garbage from there ends up in the ditch and then my fields. I guess in the big picture its not a huge problem but it just shows the poor attitude of some people.
And then theres the guys that think because we have a lot of nice trees and trails that it should be their public park/hunting preserve/public bathroom, etc.
