The uncles were a bit shorthanded today. Being that both are 80 plus, they don't climb around on a combine very well to service and maintain it.
My son doesn't work on Mondays, and he ended up helping them put the finishing touches on the 2166 combine. I road up with him after lunch to see if everything was going well. Beans were testing 11.8 to 12.1 in 3 moisture tests out of the combine bin. Beans are small, but lots of them.
They needed the semi moved up to the field so I got picked to drive it up there. Been a few years since I piloted one of these. My backing skills on the blind side need some polishing. HeHe, but I gotter where it needed to be.

I thought I was the only one still using a 15 ft. platform. I use mine on a 2144. I like it because I can move from farm to farm without taking head off.

One neighbor has a JD 915 flex, the other still has a 213 flex. I have a 10 foot rigid on my combine but I only cut 25-30 acres of small grain anymore. Narrow roads and bridges and terraces that were built when a 'big' tractor was one that pulled 4 plows are the reason old combines with smaller heads are still around here.

We started Friday. Beans are very dry like 10.5 to 11.4 Beans are also small and now that we had 5 inch plus rain in a little over a week you can get stuck pulling 2 wagons out of the field.

I am in WI and we started today as well. The yields are great maybe 70 bu. per acre. I am cutting with a 1969 Deere 95 diesel with a 13 ft head. Tom

My custom harvester got going again on my beans today. Three places in one 127 acre field had water between the rows but he could combine right through the water without making deep ruts. I no till the beans into corn stalks so the ground is firmer. They are yielding 64 bpa, the best yield I have ever seen by ten bushels.
