3020 JD oil filter change

I recently bought a 1968 John Deere 3020 with 148 loader
does anyone know if the oil filter will come out and a new one go back in with the loader on. The hole will have to be big enough to allow the cartridge to come out at a downward angle to clear the loader bracket.

i have a 3020 w a 148 loader filter comes out ok,but have to swing belly brace under loader down to drain oil unless someone made a drain hole in yours

You can change the filter with the loader on. I took out the spreader between the frame halves and torched a hole in it so I can use the JD wrench to remove the oil plug very easily.

I would recommend that you make the same mod I did on the mounting brackets....weld a plate to the bracket, and bolt a channel iron from there to the rear axle. Puts the loader pressure onto the axle, instead of the tractor side frames. 3020 engine has only two mounting bolts at the rear, covered by the side bracket, vs four for the 4020, and those bolts can break, leaving the engine to twist. That channel also provides a handy step, or a mini platform to stand on. On mine, I bolted a step below the channel, so it"s only a 12 inch step to get onto the tractor. The channel is reinforced with an additional quarter inch by four inch flat iron.

Pic won"t post!!!
