I need info about my new 4-H project wagon. Is it hydraulic? What kind of wagon it it used for? etc.

Those wagons went out of style way back in the 50s yes it has a hoist and you can haul any grain ground feed ect

I've never seen a restored one, but I ran a really nice Minnesota with a nice Minnesota wagon to $800 on an auction last spring and didn't get it. Collectors want them now.

Galen. There is one on K-bid in Glencoe. They poked a 4" auger in the bottom front for pellet stoves and it has a roll up tarp. No hoist under it, but it's straight and the running gear should be worth $250-300. it has a $2 bid right now.

I bought mine for $150 in worse shape than yours, no end gate. Makes a nice catch all utility wagon with the dump. Got to be careful not to overload it with dirt or rocks or other heavy stuff.

They hydraulics were typically added after it has been out on the farm for years to decades. They came without mostly.

Typically you see a nice one sell for $500 or so, not sure they are collectible yet don't know what a restored one would bring, folk like me look for a cheap useable one, not a pretty one......

Waitaminnit!!! We GOT ours in the '50s...Sure beat shoveling off the back of a triple box.wooden wheel wagon into the elevater drag

Saw one on a Midwest Auctions sale a few days ago...a very nice MN flare box...if you"re interested one in central MN, do you want me to send info?

Around here they use them for hauling fire wood. I had two both were wood one was a john deere triumph. Still have the other one thought it might make a good people hauler . Remember those days no hoist and shovel by hand keeping up with a two row picker I was nice and slim then.

After looking at the tongue rite in front of the axle , It looks like it mite be a latter model Case running gear. The ' flare ' box is a latter one due to its design. Shallow on the bottom and much deeper on the top, allowing for bigger loads. Earlier flair boxes were not designed like this one. clint

Restore it ? Looks in good shape to me. Might be worth less money if you paint over the galvanized. If you put new tires on it that likely cost more than the whole things worth.

I think it's a Westendorf gear. Can't read the emblem on the side of the wagon, but if it's a "W" it may be a Walsh box. Just my wild guesses.

Saw one of those with dirt on it -- When he tried to hoist it the box didnt move and the hoist pushed everything below it to the ground -- should have seen the look on that dudes face -- priceless! 40 years later and it still is funny! Roy

I use one to put ground chicken feed in. Mine is an Anthony box with an electric running gear. Mine didn't have a hoist so someone added a crank, some pulleys, and a cable. You can crank it up just as high as hydraulic but you can flip down the stay and leave it there pretty easy. I've gotten to the point that I fill it (three tons or so) with it cranked up and just leave it that way. It's a handy wagon for the purpose but to hate the wide ear corn gate on the back. I've made a chute to narrow it for a bucket but it still sprinkles enough to give the cats a place to poop.
