changing a JD 3010 front end

Need some advice.

Looking at a JD 3010 to buy with some tran. issues. Willing to fix it but it has a narrow front end. I want a wide front end.
(too hilly here in E Ohio).

Have a 2010 with a wide front end and was wondering if they would be a compatible switch? Have a 3020 that's heavier but noticed
the 3010 is lighter and thought maybe this would work.

Thanks for any help.

It would take lots of work to put a 2010 frontend on a 3010. Unless that 3010 is super nice I would not buy it as you can spend more than the value of the tractor in parts in the trans. and still have a 3010 when finished. If it is a gas with trans problems it is worth less than $1500. For just a little more money you can buy a 3020 which is a much better tractor especially the pto. Tom

Jim's correct on the 2010 not fitting, and Tom is giving you good facts on the value of the 3010,,and if you do go on with it and change the front end to one that will fit, be "Sure" you use the correct length bolts to put the steer arm back on,,if they are a bit too long the screw into the steering seal, at the point the operation would be a success but the patient died...

THanks for advice.

I agree the 3020 is way better. Just got one for 3k that only needed rear seal fixed. Nice tractor. Problem is the budget doesn't always match my desires. :)

will keep looking. Appreciate all the advice on here.
