John Deere 346 baler pto conversion

Hello
I'm new to the forum. I have a Jd 346 baler with the Wisconsin engine that I'd like to convert to the pto from the tractor. Does anyone have an idea where to find the parts needed?

Welcome to YT
Where are you located? PTO parts with slip/OR clutch from JD would be cost prohibitive so you'll need to find a donor baler or salvage yard.

I'm way out west here in northern Idaho. There is a couple tractor salvage places but they didn't have anything. One said that I could take the slip clutch off from a 400 series tractor and modify it. He had one in stock, so I wanted to research that. Any thoughts?

Don't know of a 400 series tractor that had a slip clutch????

TX Jim probably has the only answer. Salvage or donor because of $$$$.

There were options on the powerline for the 346. Later 347 or 348 will work as well. Don't do 327 or 328 or 336 as they are lighter
duty parts. Even the 347 and 348 had optional parts. Look at JDparts.com for possibilities.

You will also need the tongue for the 346 as the tongue for engine baler does not have the support for the bearing at the front of the
tongue near the tractor. You will also need the equal angle hitch parts. Later baler parts will not interchange, if I remember. Check
JDparts.com

You brought up a good point about when changing from engine to pto driven baler requires different tongue with carrier brg bracket & equal angle hitch.

I don't know what tractor would have a slip clutch with an integrated over-running clutch especially a 400 series.

(quoted from post at 13:26:51 10/04/16) Finger Lakes Equipment at 585-526-6705 salvages out JD balers and will ship parts.

Thank you NY 986..I called that contact number and told them what I needed and they had just brought in a 346 baler that had everything I needed to make the conversion. For $500 he is going to send everything I need including the draw bar. He wanted me to tell you thanks for the referral.
For everyone else that gave info thank you all so much. Very generous to share your knowledge.

Kings4344, For future reference I am in Or an also part out a lot of balers, including John Deere. Just a for you info.
