Dad's Ford Jubilee

This was dad's tractor, he bought it new in 55 I believe. This is the one that I've talked about several times as I couldn't guess how many hours I put on it raking hay, pulling the hay rope, back blading. We also used it to pull wagons and it was always the auger and elevator tractor. My dad and older brothers did all that and also cut all the hay and did a fair amount of custom cutting because the ford mower on it was the only one in the neighborhood that couod cut the swamp grass and reed canary. This would be the one that I got caught raking hay sitting on the hood in front of the steering wheel. We always raked hay as fast as it would go in third gear, so I was moving too. But after dad caught me I never did that again.

My brother Jeff owns it now and just had my otherbrother Ken and his son Brian restore it. As with all the jobs they do it is a fabulous job! They overhauled the engine, rewired it, put in new gages and got the lights working. They also reworked the brakes as in all the time I ran it the right brake only
worked in reverse and the left only forward. I suspect from turning corners cutting hay all those years.
Anyway, everything works now and with the new paint she really made me nostalgic. Imwould gladly have
gone out and raked some hay today if I could have.

There was just something about those Ford tractors that induced a person to ride on the hood. I faced forward and steered with my hands behind my back. Never was tempted to ride the hood of any other tractor. I did alternate between sitting and standing on most of the other tractors, including the D4 and HD7 crawlers.

Jon, I'm not an authority on Ford tractors, but have been told the Jubilee was the first OHV tractor that Ford built, and the Jubilee was only produced in 1953.

im, I think your referring to the "Golden Jubilee" . It was only built in 1953.

Jon, I hope the one I'm working on now comes out that nice. For the other commenters, as I understand the Golden Jubilee was built in late '52 and thru '53. It was badged as the Golden Jubilee. The same tractor built in '54 had a slightly different nose badge. Some folk call them Jubilee's and some call them NAA's. They were the first overhead valve Fords. 134 cu. in.

Well I'm glad you at least got started out young on the right tractors! Maybe someday, You will realize, and get yourself some Fords, Lol.

Looks great Jon!
My uncle had me running an 8n when I was about 11 or 12 BUT then I got to run the Olivers and the rest is history. 😉

I remember having to watch the milk cows when we let them graze the road ditches. I had the Massey 135 Diesel and laid on the hood belly down and steered with my feet. Guess you could say I was bored....

Mine's a '54. Not Golden either but thay are still nice tractors. I had to forget most of what I know about old Massey's when I started on it though.

Very nice. Here in the mountains of Virginia, small fields and limited budgets - Ford and MF dominate. Handy too. Nimble, 3pt hitch,,easy to maintain. They're still everywhere.

It has the large nut in the center of the rear hubs, so it is a '53 or '54 model NAA. '55's did not have the nut in the center of the hub. It still may have been bought new in '55.
