Looking for someone with some experience controlling Russian knapweed in pasture & grass hay ground, best product, timing ect. I have several landowners around me that let it run wild and now I'm seeing it pop up on me. I would like to stay ahead of it but from what I read it going to be a for every battle. Thank for any help you may be able pass along.

We have a lot of that here too. Not much will controll/kill it. Have used 'Rifle'(banvel) in corn, but that just slowed it up a bit till the corn out grew it.Round up works somewhat. Knapweed is kind of 'hairy' so it's hard to get the spray to the plant itself.Best thing I have found is to keep it cut back. That stuff is poisonous to horses. It is absorbed into the skin,so wear gloves if you pull it by hand. If not you will soon have a bad taste in your mouth. Not sure if it will make a human sick Good luck, you have an uphill battle......

2,4D will knock it back IF you get it before it blooms (Spring is best time). This time of year the best way to get it out of pasture is to use a shovel (cut the root off under the ground about 3-4 inches below the surface), then gather the plants, let them dry and BURN THEM! I did this 15 years ago in some new pasture and it's still knapweed free! 8)
