Mobil Pegasus 505

I am wondering if any of you knowledgeable people out there know if Mobil Pegasus 505 oil (designed for a natural gas engine) is usable in a diesel engine of the '65-'72 vintage John Deere tractors, or even in the old two cylinders? Where I work they are changing oil distributors and have a couple hundred gallons of oil that they need to get rid of and if it can be used in older tractors I will get it. Thanks.

IMHO, natural gas motor would not need a detergent oil. they run so clean on their own.
Diesel on the other hand needs hi-detergent oil. Look at the ratings on the cans. sometimes free is real expensive.

Should be an API rating on the can. From what I found on google which is ALOT but I only read a little. That oil should be great for any gas engine.

Doesn't look like it would be recommended.

Found this on their website...

"Applications:

Crankcases and power cylinders of spark-ignited two- and four-cycle gas engines"

Could not find any reference to API ratings.

I sure would not try it without hearing from a Mobile engineer that it would work. You could give them a call.
