A step in the right direction

My oldest son bought Pop's Oliver 88 and S88 from the estate with the intention of restoring them to usable condition. He spent a fair amount of money on the 88 to get it n usable condition, but it still needs some work. The last few years Pop let everything go downhill. At any rate he has never found the time to get the 88 up to snuff or do anything with the S88, which needs a motor overhaul. He finally said, enough, and went to the bank and borrowed a substantial amount of money. We talked to our tractor guy yesterday and within a week or so we are going to haul both tractors to his shop and have him go to it. Told him too pull the engine on the super and get the machinist started on that and then tackle the smaller stuff on the 88 while we are waiting for the super engine. Hopefully, we will have both up and running by next spring. I had talked to my son about possibly going with a short block assembly for the super, but that tractor is all original, and he wants to keep it that way. Besides our local machinist guy and this particular mechanic have done three engines for us now and they are all 100%. If it ain't broke........................

It will seem nice to have both of the 88's up, running, and running right. They were tough old tractors. Never hurts to have a couple extra tractors around.
