I have twin sisters that are 3 years younger than me.
When they came home mom had to leave the name tags on them because neither mom or dad could tell them apart and could not figure out who they were.
At 3 years old I was the only one in the house that could tell them apart for at least the first month.

When we had our first kids I still would call them my brothers/sisters names when mad. LOL It took several years to get it right.

John,
I can relate about that twin thing. We recently acquired identical twin cats. The wife, and one or two friends, swear they can tell them about....they can't! They say things like one has a pinker colored nose or one has a little more white on it's chest. The thing is I just don't see it, it's more a trick of the light kind of thing. So I was thinking maybe clip a little off one of them's ear. Not much, just enough to tell them apart. Wife nixed that idea! Huh? I thought it was a good idea, oh well. Thing is they're males so I'm sure it's only a matter of time before one of them gets into a fight and comes home with a distinguishable scar. JD

my kids have names!
I guess calling them all hey you don't work
but in all fairness all 3 of them growing up were called by a kids name
now that the youngest is almost 30 they all want o be called by a more adult sounding name
CW is now Cliff
Steve is now Steven
and the youngest Jamie has to be called James
and they wonder why I don't know what to call em anymore

Friends of ours had twin daughters. The only way I could tell them apart was by personality. One was friendly and outgoing and the other was more reserved and standoffish.

when we lived on my grandpas' farm when he was working on some machine who would always be talking to himself we soon learned ever once and a while to go see how things were going to make sure he didn't need help.

LOL!

It was mom's foible to spit out (staccato style), the first syllable of each of our names... until she reached the right onext.

Used to tease her about it - until we had three kids and I accidentally did it myself a few times.

my mother was bad at that too ,.dad never had trouble ,, funny,, my sons and nephews have carried the same traits and remind me of certain uncles and cousins I have and I find myself referring to them by name of those that are now long gone ,..

Goose,
That's the way I tell them apart ( should of said ''...tell them apart" first post). One is real friendly one kind of standoffish.

Dad always ran thru all the siblings names in order. Didn't matter whomever he was addressing. JD

I have 4 nephews from 1 to 10 who's names all start with A. I can't ever get them straight so I just gave them nicknames. The oldest is Sponge Bob No Pants or Sponge Bob for short because one summer they stayed with us he spent the whole summer wandering around in his boxers. Next is Benjamin Buford Blue or "Bubba" because the next one's name is Forrest. He runs everywhere he goes. The youngest is Smiley because.... well, you get that one. :)
