How often do you clean your truck?

Spent half the day vacuuming and washing the 04 Dodge dually today. I didn't get it cleaned last fall, and we are taking it on vacation in a few weeks, so I decided it was a good time to detail it as it was DIRTY! 90% of the miles are just me and my truck, so it looked purty darned good when I got done. It seems the older the vehicles get, the less often they get a good cleaning. How often do you wash/vacuum your truck?

Every time it rains. My poor old truck just doesn't see many spa days. I keep up on the mechanical side of it, not so much on the pretty part.

'97 Ford Ranger,327,500 miles-very few repairs ever needed,just regular oil changes,wash a few times a year,vacuum and clean windows maybe once a year.Still looks good,no rust!Mark

If I am power washing something, and my 05 F150 is within reach of the hose I will hit it. Other than that not much more. I try to keep the maintenance up though. Stan

The good pickup - maybe every four tanks of gas. It
gets 3000-4000 miles a year so it's not all that
often. Basically to rinse the dust off from it sitting in
the shed.

The grain trucks gets the inside blown out a couple
of times a year and the outside hosed off just about
every time they come out of the shed. Again, it's to
rinse off the dust so I can see out the windshield.

The tractors are all much more often. The inside
gets thoroughly cleaned every 100 hours and blown
out with the compressor every time an implement
changes. The outside varies, but during
hay/planting, etc. the outside gets hosed probably
every 25 hours. With soap and a bucket probably
every 40 hours.

The tractors are where I spend the most time and
where most folks see me (from the road). I think
they represent the farm as much as anything so I
keep them looking nice. The 4440 is going to get a
paint job over the winter to make it more
presentable.

It's a work truck, so not very often. Has to be a special occasion, like taking it on a family trip.

That also involves unloading the back seat of tons of tools just to find a place to sit!

My last truck, the cleanest it ever was, other than when I bought it new, was the day I cleaned it out to sell it!

Like to keep the 3/4 ton diesel cleaned up, but the 1 ton diesel with flatbed gets the most abuse. The tractors get washed every spring and
fall before field work. Got to get the combine out and washed before starting beans. It gets cleaned with air inside and out before it is put
away.

The last time my truck was washed was when it went to the body shop after a tree limb fell on it. That was 5 years ago. I cleaned out the bed and inside yesterday. The tools, water bottles, and feed buckets were starting to take up too much room. I use a lawn sprinkler to wash out underneath a couple of times a year to get rid of mud and road salt. I keep a protective coating of dust on the dash to keep it from cracking, it's worked for 11 years.

Mine gets washed every 3000 miles dealer changes the oil, free wash.

Cab gets cleaned out when someone needs to sit in passenger's seat.

Never. I let the rain and snow do it. I've had my 1994 F250 since 1999 and never cleaned it yet. Never will either.

I keep my 2012 F 250 fairly clean, I wash it myself. My F 250 1994 Farm truck, well I just
clean it up when needed. I never go to A car wash.

Can't remember the last time I washed a truck. Or car. Once in a while a tractor. Maybe once a year
I get the sand dirt out of the floor of the truck cab, and wash the inside of the windshield.

I guess I'm the odd ball here. I only use it to haul or pull one of the five trailers I have. It may sit in the garage a week at a time. I have a car and motorcycles to chase parts and run errands. I wash it every time I use it if it gets dirty. I'm not as good when it comes to keeping it neat inside.

Its nine years old and still looks new. I got more time than I do money. People that don't know think I'm driving a new truck. Its going to be ten years old. I'm hoping it last me until I get tired of playing farmer. I don't want to spend the 50 grand it would take to replace it.

I Keep my truck clean all the time, but I've seen trucks where it would be a decision between a shovel and a high powered leaf blower. I don't have the stamina to wash the truck myself now, but there are $3 car wash places all around us.

Outside may get a quick water hose rinse every couple of years. Inside gets the trash removed when I am looking for receipts at tax time. It has not seen a vacuum or wipe down in years.

WOW after reading all the replies you are going to think this guy needs more to do or is really bored. I have two 1 ton dually that I wipe off the dash & instrument cluster every couple weeks. I wash them with a pressure washer a minimum of once a month & more often if they really need it & I clean the inside of the windows every couple months. I'm not a clean freak I just like a clean vehicle.

I guess I am the exception, I like my truck clean inside and out. Anytime it is dirty it gets cleaned. I only drive it
2-3000 a year so it doesn't get that bad anyway. I have a beater for errands and parts runs, THAT is filthy most of the
time , lol.

used to pay the kids 5 bux per week to wash and c lean inside ,,. they grew up ,. now I am thinkin to hire grand kids to do the same , oldest is 11 ,, truthfully I have not cleaned my truck since march ,, that's when I went under the knife for colon cancer ,.,. all went well ,ihave a good prognosis ,but the chemo really limits me to ONLY must do projects and jobs ,, . I have I more of 12 chemos to take,..and then I will be home free ,, unlees they find sumthin , in the next yr of tests ...

I throw trash out every time I get done using truck and it gets washed at least once a month and more often in winter because of salt on roads.

When I was working washed it every other week, retired about every month, wax twice a year.

Looks and runs as good as it did 287,000 miles ago. 93 Dodge Cummins dually !

I have a '08 Mazda B4000 that I bought used 2 yrs, ago. I keep it clean all the time. It has 130,000 Kms. on it. Sold the last one (same make/model - '94) with 350,000 Kms. for $3,000, this will be the last truck for me so I plan to keep it nice.

When my wife just HAS to go somewhere with
me that I need my truck. She won't sit in
the dog's spot.

Kinda off the subject a bit, but this reminded me of about 50 years ago when I rode the school bus, which was owned by the driver(s). When his bus got enough trash in the floor, and was nearing end of the
route, and on a lonely stretch of gravel he would tell us to pick up the trash and toss into the well by the doors. When we were finished, he would simply throw the doors open and all the trash would be
sucked out the doorway. I recall some kids commenting how it was littering, but he would just tell them it was all mostly paper, so it was no big deal. I can only imagine a School Bus driver now doing
that, and how long that would fly, but it was no big deal then, but I also recall him ejecting kids off and making them walk too when they were fighting or giving problems. Not today in our politically
correct world, it would be considered abuse.

96 dodge 3500 cummins 180,000 miles. wash once a month, wax once year. Vacuum and clean inside
regularly. Don't like it messy or dirty. Mostly sets in garage.

Yeah mine is a working truck, pulling 12-14k daily. It gets to sit out in the hot sun, so I crack the windows and that's how the dust gets in there...and sometimes a rain shower catches me far from the truck and the windows are down...sometimes a customer's dog will have to mark a tire as his own....at night it just gets pulled under the lean-to where the cats and raccoons get to play on it.
