HELP! A friend brought over his 46 IH M for me to get running. It hadn't been in use for many years. I started to take the carb apart to get the years of crud out and a little ball about the size of a BB fell out and I didn't see where it came from!! there's a new one in the re-build kit, but neither the instructions in it or the picture in the IT manual show it's location. Can anybody enlighten me as to where IH would have put it!!!! (I'm glad I put a white cloth on my work bench when I dis-assemble stuff like this!!)

It is the detent ball for the choke lever. It sets in a tiny hole, with a spring behind it. The purpose is to hold the choke in the open position. That little spring is probably rusted in place. Patience and penetrating oil is required.

Normally in my shop I just hear a SPROIIINNNGGGGGG! and something flying past my ear. Then no idea, what or where.
