I'm thinking about going...Exeter to Harriston is only an hour's drive. I have been to many IPM s, when I was in grade school my Dad would come and get me and off we would go to the plowing match, spend the day and stop and have a nice meal on the way home. In 1999 at Dashwood I was in charge of the school display which took up an entire tent in the tent city. One year at Glenco I watched a competition for Border Collies. There were about a dozen sheep in a huge pen,six marked with yellow dye, six marked with blue dye..the job, to separate them..those dogs were incredible, they listened to their masters whistle and watched his arm signals at the same time as the sheep, a drop of the arm and the dog immediately laid down..and on it went , what an education about that dog breed. The IPM has something for everyone!

Don't think I will be going again this year . Our County fair runs the same week . Our milk committe runs a booth at the fair selling ice cream cones , milk , cheese curds , etc. , and as a member I am expected to be on hand to serve . Love the farmland in and around Harriston , and only three hours or so away. But duty calls , you fellas have a good time . Bruce

Next year it is our home County, Huron, near Walton. I Will be helping with the antique display.
So, you were at the "Dust Match" in 99? Not as bad as the "Mud match" in 1966! Ben

I was in Seaforth in 1966 ! I was in high school and the schools all had a day off to go to the IPM. I wore rubber boots which were barely sufficient for the depth of the mud. I spent a lot of the day carrying girls across the streets which had become quagmires, people were having their boots and shoes sucked off in the mud. They were even trying to use snowmobiles to drive through the mud, with not much success. It was a plowing match to remeber !

Hey Bruce, just to entice you...there are three craft beer companies that will be offering their wares Elora Brewing Company,Wellington Brewing Company and Royal City Brewery from Guelph.

Here are some pictures of this years state matches in Iowa. It initially rained but then cleared up and dried enough to plow and have a great time.

Yes, I also will be there, with a booth that we will set up there. Weldesign Hardware, come by and say hi. Hope to see you there. John

Nice plowing, but an AC plow would have turned an un-broken slice entirely across that field..every trip and was a pleasure to work that ground...nice and smooth..

I suppose there will be "Plow Races"..???

Now, that is an event to be SEEN (from a Distance)..!!
