I have a Husky model 36. It will run for a little bit and then quit. I notice if I open the gas cap and reseal, I can run the saw for a while and then it quits again. Open the cap, reseal, and it starts up and runs a little. The cap does not appear to be vented, is there some other vent I am unaware of or is the cap in fact vented?

That husky does have a tank vent and it's not in cap. You will need to get diagram of saw and find tank vent valve.

I had a Stihl brand weedeater that did the same thing from the day it was new. Took it back to the dealer several times and each time he said there is nothing wrong. I gave up and drilled a vent hole in the fuel cap. Problem solved.

Thanks. Found the schematic here and I am getting the parts locally. Weird little vent and check valvce that I would never have found. Thanks again.

40 years ago!- when I worked on Homelites, they put a "duckbill" in the fuel caps on the bigger saws, then when they came out with the little saws, they hid them inside somewhere.

I was going to add the Duck bill too. The stupid ethinol raises havoc with the rubber and they turn to goo.
