Always liked those. Cannot say I have ever seen implements on a round fendered Jeep though. What year is it and is it factory? Thanks for
posting.

Hi, don't know any more about it, I didn't have my decent camera with and the folks standing by it didn't seem to care about giving an inch to take some pix, I was going take a picture of the information at the front but forgot, and yes the ad's I remember were for the square fender Jeeps, I'm thinking one of ideas behind this was after WW2 there were many surplussed Jeeps. This is the first I've seen the implements it also had a PTO in the back.

The PTO and hitch stayed on as options after the CJ-3A was replaced by the pictured CJ-5 in the mid-50's. The Spicer/Dana 18 transfer case with the full-torque PTO out the back made the tailshaft possible. This was replaced by the Dana 20 around 1972 and since that transfer case lacked the rear PTO port the tailshaft option went away then. I'm not sure when the hitch option was discontinued but there were a variety of aftermarket companies (four that I know of) that made 3-point hitches and the later CJ-5's could have been upfitted after-the-fact.

The PTO operation was a little weird since, being driven from the transfer case, its rotational speed and direction was dependent upon the transmission gear. It only turned at 540 rpm in first gear (of the 3-speed, not the later granny low 4-speed) and would of course rotate backwards when the vehicle was in reverse. A 540 tailshaft option was also available for the early IH Scouts which also used the Spicer 18 transfer case. The same transfer case PTO could also operate a winch (like it does on my 1961 Scout) and here the different speeds and direction provided by the transmission is a benefit instead of a hinderance. For stationary PTO work the transfer case is placed in neutral.

I had a 1952 CJ2A that had the rear PTO with belt pulley
Willy's marketed them after the war as an alternative for farmers
could use as a tractor on the farm and drive it to town as a multi use unit
from what I've read they offered the options into the 60's but do't think they sold many implements
after the mid 50's as there was a lot of newer tractor's that were better suited for farm needs
if that jeep did come equipped with the options it may be the only one still around
I've only seen a cple of the C2's and C3's setup with the rear pulley but never seen the mower before

I really love the older (flat fender) Jeeps with a variety of aftermarket agricultural type
equipment. I have a 1953 CJ3B that was originally an Oregon Forestry Dept. vehicle. It then
ended up on a ranch in Lander Wyoming. I got it in 2014 and it is pretty original and in
it's "work clothes". I have a front PTO winch that I probably won't use, but I am really
excited about my rear PTO with the belt pulley drive. Hope to start having fun with it next
spring. Would love a small plow for it.

There is lots of good Willys/Jeep stuff at www.ewillys.com

Antique Power magazine had a feature on them 3-4 years ago including a part of it about a fellow who had 3-4 of them.
