Must be a diesel. looks like PF style Bosch injection pumps. Also since there are 2 valves per cylinder I would bet on it being a 4 cycle unless each push rod only works the exhaust valves. Do you have any more detains on the engine.

We use 12 cylinder Worthington diesels to power 3500 kW backup generators at work. They also run at 514 rpm- as dictated by the generator output of 60 hertz. I wonder why the same speed is chosen for a 5 cylinder running a belt line?
