I have noticed a lot of you mix 2, 4D with Roundup.
I have always gotten good kill with just Roundup mixed a 2 or 2 1/2 oz. per gallon with surfactant.
Why add 2, 4D?

Alfalfa is another one. When burning down alfalfa roundup alone won't quite do the job but a quart per acre of 4lb 2-4d will finish it off.

I use weedmaster with roundup, for "instant gratification" the broadleafs will be dead or at least sick looking in a day or less with the 2-4D whereas roundup takes a week or more to show results

Also, the 2,4-D enhances the Roundup. Being that 2,4-D is a growth regulator and basically grows a plant so fast it dies, a dose of it in the mix allows the Roundup to be taken in faster and translocate through the plant faster, causing a quicker and more thorough kill. And it won't break the bank. Mike

I use straight round-up. Many of the broad leaf herbicides have a waiting period before replanting. I think 2,4-d is 45 days?
Round up is 7 days? So if you are replanting soon after spraying, makes no sense (to me) to add anything to the round-up.

I'm no herbicide expert - so take the above with a grain of sale and some correct me if I'm wrong.

No expert but Roundup is "no residual" so I would think there is no waiting period?
Years ago, my county agent said ground contact deactivated Roundup to a great extent, so it was ok with ground water if concerned.

As was stated, I do it to help the kill. I vary my 24D rates depending on field. Some concentrations
are two week hold out, some are 30 days. It's a catch 22, as you are hoping for a dry window a
month down the road. Palmer and mares tail are resistant here. Spray all the Roundup you want -
you will only make smarter weeds. I use Liberty beans but don't burn down with Liberty. I'd like to
think it will delay resistance a bit over going full steam with Liberty. I also put Sharpen in the mix to
heat up the spray. I used Prefix again this year but I think I've out used its usefulness. I'm not
bothering with it next year.

There are many broad leaf weeds that Roundup will not kill. Many it will have little effect on. Sour doc is one of them. 2-4D will kill the broad leaf weeds that Round up misses.

There are also many vines that Round up has little effect on. Bur Cucumber is one around here that Round up does nothing to.
