Calf catcher

I broke down this year and bought a Safety Zone calf catcher to put on the atv. I've only had four calves so far but it more than paid for itself
with two of them. They were both only hours old and I had to run them down to get them in the catcher. It seems like calves this year are born
already a week old!

If you have many calves and like to tag and fly spray them early like I do you should look into one. Slick machine.

I'd like to have one of those units, but I'd have to do some improvements in front of some gates to be able to get through the mud with it during calving season. I made a cage for the 3pt on the tractor. I've had some success with it,but I need something higher and a little bigger on the inside. I've chased some a long ways in reverse. It's not as maneuverable in reverse as I'd like it to be. If I ever make something different,it's going to go on the quick attach on the loader. I don't always need it,but when I do,it would be worth taking the time to put it on.

I've never had the opportunity to see one in person. I've wondered about the all terrain capability of one. Course my pasture is far from smooth.

Same here - the lots are pretty bumpy but the open pasture is a little better. I've driven it pretty fast through the pasture and it did well. The wheel even with the front of the four wheeler is a dolly wheel. If you really get to moving it does the grocery cart and slows the four wheeler down a bit. We will see how it does in mud. We haven't had any really good mud in NE KS in a while. It's pretty darn sturdy.

Randy I have one I built out of an old hog mover. It quick taches to my loader. It has saved me many a bruise. You just have to be careful getting from the tractor to the catcher. Usually Momma is worried about the calf so I can get off the opposite side and walk up to the pen safely.

I've shoved many a calf in to the bucket that way. I just have to get back to the seat so I can raise it up away from her, then I climb up the hood and in to the bucket. It sure leaves the old cow confused when the calf isn't there on the ground anymore. They aren't inclined to look up.
