Not totally ff topic..need a horn beep beep

All,

I bought a plastic horn from Oreilleys for about 20 bucks...It kinda worked when new, but did not fair well when in dusty/dirty conditions.

I was going to return it, but I must have loosened the bolts and it really had fell off, probably in a hayfield.

I have a single un-relayed switch for a 12 volt horn.

Is there a better horn? I do not to add the air compressor for a blast horn, rather a decent horn that I can beep, and one that'll sound off and not be destroyed by rough conditions...

Even better! Go to a good junk yard and pick the kind of horn you want. Now here is what I mean. Check behind the grill on a Honda, KIA, Subaru, Hundai. These are in a set of two with a nice mounting bracket. You will need a 12mm wrench to take them off. You want to pick out the nice and shinny ones you can find. You also want to cut the wire harness with them so you have the plugs to match up and supply power. These horns will give you a nice sharp attention getting note. Like the Roadrunner bird. Next is to look at American cars but many of these horns are in the left fender well and some in the right. You will need to remove the tire and the plastic wheel well splash shield. Some Ford vans have the horns mounted right in the middle behind the grill just above the bumper. How do I know all of this????? Every lawn and garden tractor I own has horns on them. Gets every ones attention! The japanesse horns have a very sharp note. One more thing. Go to Harbor Freight and buy a set of BAD BOY air horns. They are not that expensive, "$40.oo" are very compact, and are VERY loud! Come with all of the parts you will need.

And if you really want to get peoples attention, wire in a Tungsol 12S Flasher to a pair of Horns. They will alternate; sounds like the European Siren Horns. (High-Low, High-Low, High-Low).

LOL

:>)

I put just a cheap one from Amazon on the tractor awhile back. I installed it underneath the steering wheel inside the cowling, pointing downwards. A protector like panty hose or a cloth zip tied around it works good also.

auto wreckers have lots of horns. u can get about 5 of them and adjust the tones on each one and have each one on a push button and play yankee doodle.

I've had one on my pickup for about 2 years - if it quits I'll get another one - I like them! :)
