After trying Hewlett Packard's tech hotline for several days and not being able to reach anyone who spoke understandable English, I also had to call Capital One's customer service about a glitch that was preventing me from accessing a credit card online to make a payment. Nothing wrong with the card, I just couldn't access it online.

I was pleasantly surprised to find myself talking to a very personable, chatty lady in Virginia Beach, VA who spoke perfect English. She fixed the problem while I was on the line with her.

Just when you think this whole country is shot to hell, you find a ray of sunshine.
 
Same thing happened with Direct TV last time I called. I got a southern guy who said he'd just had the same reception problem with his. He suggested I take a shot gun to some tree branches.
 
I called bush hog today to ask about a u joint for my bat wing. There is 7 different options for the one I have. Had a pleasant chat with a fellow with a strong southern accent. Nice to still find helpful people out there.
 
Wife was having trouble with her Smart phone a while back. Youngest son come by so he called the phone company. Got a gal with a strong cute southern accent. He ask her what state she was in. She said Washington State. What are you doing up there with a southern accent. She said she married a guy from up there. Ask her how she liked it up there. She said she liked it because there was nothing interesting south of the Mason Dixon line. Hadn't heard that expression in a long time.
 
I've had the same experience with CenturyLink; I've even gotten the same woman there a couple of times, she always fixes the problem and makes sure it's fixed right. And she calls me Hon.
