need new tires for the 1ton duelly and have looked at a set of cooper at3...seems like a pretty good tire but have concerns with sway on the road loaded with the tall lugs..have had this happen before..they also have an ironman ap available but dont know anything about either tire..sizes are 235/80/17...any thoughts or input is appreciated..truck doesnt really go anywhere unless loaded with tractors for shows and pulls and such...price diff between the 2 is about 50.00 per tire more for the coopers...thanks for any input and have a great evening

I run the AT3's on my Ram 2500. Size is 285/70/17 load range E on rims that would prefer a 245 tire. I haven't noticed any sway with a 12k lbs of gooseneck car hauler and tractors.

Good luck!

Here is a tire option that is available. They are Hankooks if you can't read the name on the bottom of the tire. These aren't your size but this is the tread configuration. I am not saying it is good or bad because it is brand new on my pickup and I have only a few miles on them. I have a feeling they might make my lumber wagon ride just a little rougher but it might be my imagination.

Oh yes, my son has these Hankooks on his Ford 3/4 ton and they seem to handle OK without any squirming with the pickup empty. Don't know about how it handles loaded.

I have the Coopers on my 1/2 ton. I like the tires but it rarely carries enough load for me to comment on your sway question. Good tires for wear and traction at what used to be a really good price. Over the last few years Coopers gotten more proud of them, so they aren't as much of a bargain but still a good deal.

I put a set of Cooper AT3s on my ram this summer. I sure like them better than the goodyears I took off. Much quieter and better traction. I haven't had any real heavy loads on yet.

Good luck !

yes very noticeable..we took them back and put a completely different tread style but same brand on and it went away

i have used the hancooks for trailer tires but not vehicle tires and they have held up well..the guy i get my tires from can get the coopers right in the same range of price so thats why he recommended them..thanks for your reply and the pic

I put Cooper's on my F-350 and have pulled a lot with them. The only issue is that I have bead cracking on 3 out of the 4 at 25,000 miles. One is all the way around the tire and I can't get really any deal on warranty (my replacement cost is $10 less than I paid new).

Needless to say that I won't be replacing them with Cooper's. I've been looking at other options now (early) as I can get a trade-in on the others before they get too bad.

Had a set of Coopers on my F-350, hauled a 10,000# tractor on a 4,500# trailer all over everywhere, never any trouble.

I have the Coopers on one of my vehicles. Only complaint I have is the compound is hard and they are slick on ice. Put ATW on last winter. The AT3 s will run the rest of this summer and then get sent to trailer duty.

I often wonder why Cooper suppliers off so many Cooper blem tires. You mite ask if they are blem's.

if I thought I would ware them out in five years I would pay a little more for Toyo tires myself, if not good tires are cheap they will go bad before you can ware them out. This day and time 5 years is the life span of tires as far as safety is considered.

that's my problem also... this truck sits all the time until I have need for the trailer so they will dry rot before I wear them out..makes me want to buy cheap tires for it but then again if I need to go 2 or 3 hundred miles to pick up something and have a problem I will be kicking myself for not spending a little extra now..i know it would really cost me being so far from home

When we started selling Goodyear tires 25+ years we had some of the more aggressive ones do the squirm especially with a trailer on back. I called the Gdyr rep, he told me to let some air out of the tires. They are riding on the center 2 " of the tread. He was right when we let 15 to 20 lbs out of the tires, and let the full face of the tread run on the highway, they straightened right up. I would not have believed it because it seems like just the opposite thing to do. This worked for other brands we sold too. I would not be afraid of Cooper tires. Good luck with your decision.

I got real good wear out of a set of blem at2s. 5 year old Nexens busted a cord this summer. Bald 6 yr Cooper still round.

Put ironman APs on front of my Cummins a month ago, we will see. 235/85-16s. Does seem to handle better with the new ones up front.

Last year I put a set of Kuhmo AT3's on my truck. Been good so far. I've had some mildly heavy loads on it with hay, but not really any trailer weight to comment on that. I got those because they had a rebate last year that made them hard to pass up when I was sitting with a slice in the sidewall of one of my old tires...
