This is getting aggravating

I drove home from Lexington Ky Sunday in that darned rented GMC Terrain. I had the cruise on all the way, tensed up,ready to hit the brakes. When I got home, the tendons on the inside of my thighs were sore from not letting my legs relax. I was so sore Monday morning,it was hard to walk. There was a wheel bearing out on the silage cart, took the seal and everything out,so I took the whole hub off another one I have here for parts.
I thought it might loosen me up if I did my 15 minutes on the elliptical,so I did that. I had missed almost a week,so I was out of condition a little. It only seemed to make things worse. We had to take the darned GMC back to Enterprise. By noon,I was having to use a cane,so I sat down the rest of the day figuring if I kept going,I'd just tear up more muscles from trying to compensate for the ones that didn't want to work.

Monday night,I had to crawl on my hands and knees to the bathroom a couple of times. The wife got the walker out of the garage Tuesday morning and I've been using that every since. The younger boy ground feed Tuesday and the older boy did chores yesterday and today. I've been popping the strongest pills the wife can find and sleeping a lot. Haven't even gotten dressed in the last two days.

Worst bugger of it is,the oats were ready to be cut last week while I was gone. I had planned to cut them this week for sure. I'm very slowly getting better, but it's not gonna be a matter of getting up in the morning and being back to normal. I'm about to pull my hair out, having to just sit around feeling OK until I try to walk.

Sorry to hear of your issue, I have similar pain in back for last two weeks, spent yesterday down/up off creeper repairing a haybine. Get into some pills by times but don't like that road. I am VERY fortunate to have a daughter who still lives at home that is a Registered Massage Therapist. She will work my back for 10-15 minutes enough that I can sleep.Have you ever tried a hot tub?

rrlund,

You might want to call and chat with a nurse. Your pain level seems extreme.

The thing is after a long trip with prolonged sitting (especially as we age), there is a higher risk of developing blood clots. Pretty sure it's called deep vein thrombosis.

We had a neighbor lady who would develop blood clots in her legs... I guess it was very painful. One time a chunk broke off and traveled to her lungs - she was lucky and survived it. She's still doing well today - she's in her 80's.

In traffic or big hills I leave the cruise control off. Driving is easier and gas mileage is a little better when I can anticipate when to speed up and slow down.

I'll second the massage therapist ! A year ago my right leg went I could barely walk. Just a few visits it started getting better ! This year I was feeling a lot better and was doing more and darned if I didn't get similar in my left leg. Went back to her and I'm back walking normal again.

I don't have to call a nurse,my wife is one. This is just a strained muscle issue. I've had it happen in my back many a time, but never in the groin before. It's just inertia in those two main tendons. The left side is the worst. I should have just relaxed and let that leg fall against the door, but I guess I was keeping it tensed up instead. After I sleep a while,I feel OK,but as soon as I move too much, everything tenses up again. I can stand up out of a chair now without having to work for it. It doesn't even bother me to stand in one place, but as soon as I try to move one foot or the other, the inertia kicks in. I've been doing all I can do to stop as soon as I start to hurt the least little bit,and regroup.

If I could get somebody to rub me where I'm hurting,I'd be real afraid of the place being raided. LOL

The wife went and got me one of those Icy Hot things that send the electrical pulse to the muscles. It was kind of awkward to put on,but I've used it several times. Every little bit helps.

Mix some grape juice and Apple Cider Vinegar together and drink it,also rub some of the vinegar on your legs.Does wonder for my wife's leg cramps. Also drinking lots of water will help too.

No. 75 to 30 to 69. I'd been driving for a week straight, but kept getting out for yard sales every little ways. I should have stopped and got out more often driving home I guess.

That's how I get when I'm low on potassium and other minerals. I take a round of 1000mg of potassium for a couple of days along with a calcium, magnesium and zinc supplement. I also drink as much water as I can get down. The juice and vinegar that TF mentioned is also good. The vinegar adjusts your body's pH so the minerals are more readily absorbed

When I pulled a muscle in my back they used ultra sound and massage it was better then the electric stimulation that I got before. A good physical therapist can do wonders.

People that sit too long on airplanes and cars can develop blood clots in their legs. I don't have to worry about sitting too long, I'm lucky to make to the next rest stop to drain my radiator.

i think i woild go see a dr and check it out most espically if you need to do oats. there bad enough if you feel goood

Randy,
It's just the opposite for me. If I don't use the cruise my leg gets stiff and aches from holding the pedal at a steady speed. With cruise I can move both my legs around and relax them.
Hope you get back in the saddle real soon.

Cmon, now. Suck it up and get out there. Them oats aint gonna combine themselves. You can't let this nice, cool weather slip away without getting something done!!

just kidding, of course. make yourself feel more productive by doing some paperwork or whatever you don't have time for if you were in the combine.

LOL Ya,I've tried just sucking it up. It's made me mad as a wet hen a few times and I tried to just take off walking. That didn't work so good.

I got a car with smart cruise on it. It follows what ever is in front of it a set distance and even applies the brakes and stops. Took me awhile before I trusted it but, it is one option I will never do without again.

This can't be good.

You may have to trade off those Olivers and Whites for some 2 cylinder JD's with a hand clutch....

Hope you feel better!
Bill

Then if I did end up at the doctor, try explaining hickies that size in that location. LOL

Ya,the wife has some cr?me with that in it. She rubbed that on the first day. Did about as much good as anything else. I've been sitting here I my recliner flexing things. It's coming around, but meanwhile,I've pretty well wasted two whole weeks now. I always wondered what it would be like to get a vacation right here at home.
Not as much fun as a person might think.

Well, Randy, there is another way for you to work the kinks out. Tomorrow through Sunday is the US 12 garage sale, 180 miles from Detroit to the Indiana like by New Buffalo.

Randy do you take any blood pressure medicine??? If any of them are diuretic pills they actually dehydrate you. One of the side effects is muscle fatigue/weakness and cramps. I took them for 4-5 years. Last summer I was just about worthless. My legs where weak all of the time. I could barely walk up steps at times. This last winter the Doctor switched my blood pressure medicine to a non diuretic type. What a difference!!! Even with the heat this summer I have been able to do more and felt better. So it your on any medicine at all look it up and see if any of the medicine has side effects like your having.

Dang Rowdy Randy - Now you're starting to make me feel old!
Drove back from Minnapolis/St. Paul to cIllinoiz a couple of weeks ago WITHOUT cruise control and it was just my butt achin and knees creekin when I stopped about every 2 hours to go to the bathroom.

Hope this helps

I feel your pain. If I sit to long I stiffen up. Two weeks ago I was at a restaurant and was sitting in a booth with family. After about a hour I got up to leave and could barely walk to the exit. Old age I guess.

You were about 5 mile from me. I am actually about 7 mile south east of Wapakoneta and same distance from Botkins northeast so that makes I75 just about 5 mile west of me.
