ATV insurance cost?

I have purchased a new Can-Am Outlander ATV.

The purchase cost was about $9,000.
My automotive insurance company wants to charge me $50/mo for insurance. Is this about right? Seems expensive to me.

Depends what you want to insure it for, just liability, or theft and fire too? Can be all over the board. I never insured an atv, my mule is insured thru my farm policy, but I'm sure they are a pretty high risk category both for liability and theft. Injuries and thefts are pretty common with them

if that's full coverage that is reasonable to me,, that machine can be licensed for road use what do you pay to insure your car/pickup full coverage?
cnt

To ride on road in Indiana you must have insurance and it cost me about $200 a year thru my farm policy.

Look at the claims for those machines people hurt and deaths all the time never mind the claims for property damage all because of reckless drivers pay it and be glad its not more.

If it is to be driven on roads, must be licensed and insured in South Dakota. Have a 4 Wheeler that is licensed, and the insurance is 100 for the year.

I bought a new UTV in Dec of 2012. I had to register it with Indiana DNR and got a 3 year sticker. Then I thought DMV took over. I've not heard from DMV. When my plates or car are due, DMV sends me a notice in mail.

So enlighten me is DMV or DNR in charge. Plates aren't required on my UTV. I did send DMV my new title. I wasn't aware insurance is required. I do carry liability in mine for about $100 a year. I keep mine locked up in pole barn when not in use so don't carry full coverage. I paid cash for mine.

To be honest when our county first allowed the riding on roads I registered my 4 wheeler and ranger, but never did renew it after they expired. The county cops don't care unless your causing trouble. When I bought my gator a few years ago they wanted to know what I paid so they could tax me. Never registered it either. I will ask my bil he rides his ranger to the little restaurant sbouy 5 miles way so I know his is current.he should be around shortly after the rain stops.

No to mention the dollar limits on that coverage. In Kansas minimum liability is only $25,000, I carry a million on my tagged vehicles. Wasn't much of an issue as once you go over $200,000 (with my carrier) the additional coverage gets cheap. However when my 17 year old got his license cheap wasn't a word I would use.

Back when DNR was in charge, if you were at a state park they would nail you, get a fine, without a DNR sticker

My sister lives on Bass Lake, In. The DNR would pull their boats up to your dock, hand out tickets if your mules or atv's didn't have a sticker on them.

Never see DNR in the country unless it deer season.

Our county deputies have a policy, DON'T PURSUE A MOTORCYCLE OR ATV, they go too fast. So they really don't care about ATV's on roads. Druggies use ATV's as mobile meth labs.

$81 per year with my insurance for fire, theft, etc on that value, $17 surcharge on my general liability policy per ATV, and $17 per atv, per million coverage surcharge on my umbrella liability policy. Kentucky Farm Bureau farm owners policy.

Our Ranger is licensed, so ok on roads in MN. Added to farm policy of 3 veh, one pop-up camper, was about $140 per yr.

Look at your itemized statement for what you are paying for each type of coverage. Collision and comprehensive can be expensive because those vehicles get a lot of damage claims, especially with inexperienced owners and underage drivers. If you have a loan on the vehicle you may be required to carry collision and comp.
