Hurray for the loss of memory continued..

All,

After prayers, and some swearing, I finally gave up to the idea that I'd have to buy new parts. So, after looking in the parts pile, I decided to "wash" some junked parts in the coffee can of gasoline I keep around.

When I dropped the part in the can, I heard a rattle.

Sure enough, in there were the parts I was looking for in the first place.

I'd like to think the prayers is what did it. The parts are now painted orange.

That's what Ive said for years; buy new parts, because you lost the first ones, and go to put up the replacement parts on the shelf..... there's the first ones. Happens to me all the time.

For some odd reason if someone can't find something I usually can. Place I worked at I developed a method called the open hole inventory basically when an item came in the warehouse it was designated a spot if something was there most guys would stick it someplace else and change the item location. I found stuff that had been missing for 3 years. The problem i had boss lady wanted to put it back on inventory then write it off the books then throw it away this was food items. The secretary was a little quicker I would just ask her if this item was around she would check say no and then ask me to dump her trash I think she knew what I was doing. Doing that system we cleaned up and filled a dumpster it was unfortunate to see that much food go to waste.

Place I worked several years ago, there was an elderly man there, been there for ever, way beyond retirement age but they pretty much kept him on out of kindness. He didn't get much done, but he was the "go to man" when it came to finding something!

I could drop a screw or something tiny that hit the floor, disappear the way things like that can, and always do... He would see me down on the floor looking. Within a few seconds "Dat's it rite dare, ain't it?" Sure enough, he had spotted it!

Or ask him if he had seen _____ laying around somewhere. That would start the search. He might come back with the wrong thing a couple of times, but if I could describe what I was looking for, he would find it!

He's long since passed on, quite a character! His nick name was "Ham Bone"! LOL

At work it seems to be a common occurence, when someone can't find something, you go to the guy next to you and say "give me a fresh pair of eyes...." and sure enough, they look for a few seconds and spot it.

Either that or it's gone for good...
