barley awns

My barley has a lot of awns still attached after combining.
I've never had this happen before. I use a MF 300 combine.
We have had a severe drought and that my have been the
cause.
Any suggestions on how to remove these awns?

What's the issue, are you being docked for them at the "elevator"?

If going for "malting", in my experience they'd rather see some awns than scuffed kernels.

So, PLEASE tell us "the rest of the story"!

I had the concave set as close as I could get without cracking.
The cylinder speed was the fastest.
My problem now is how do I remove the awns from
my threshed grain.
I may try to run it through the combine again.
Has anyone done this?

Take a couple of strips of final floor covering and fill in the first couple of bars of the concave. The barley is thrashing off to fast and not taking the awns off. Lloyd.
