Another Ariens HT16 question

The pto sometimes doesn't engage when I flick on the pto switch. Turning it on and off over and over will usually get in work, but not always. The battery is up to snuff and the pro clutch is new. So I think either the relay or the "time delay module" . Any thoughts on how you can determine if one of these is bad?

I have had several PTO switches go bad. They get water in them and get corrosion. Your clutch and switch should work in an instant with out any delay. Get another switch. Unplug the connectors and try a paper clip or something in them. Bet it will go Click right away!

Good advice. Be sure all connections are clean and the ground is good.

And, I think that clutch has a air gap adjustment. If so, try that first. I'd start with a .015 setting.

Just to add to your reply Ken. If you look on flebay there is a company in boca Florida. They make Xtreem clutches. I bought one and installed it on my Husqvarna. They are VERY nicely made and can be rebuilt. Everything you need comes in the box. Price is right on too. Know a friend who fixes all kinds of lawn machines on the side and he only installs this companys clutches. Very happy with it.
