You Know It's Hot When...

Haha, gotta love that. We did 2 miles of chip seal at work this morning when it was cool. It heated up the asphalt so much this afternoon the tar was melting and running off the edges of the road

You walk out of your conditioned office for a late lunch...

and your glasses fog-over with condensation. LOL

They chip sealed the blacktop here. With these hot days it is super soft. Every time you drive a tractor on it the thing pulls up the tar covered chat and flings it everywhere. I have lots of tractors here with little rocks on the fender tops held down with tar. Don't even ask what the implements look like. Braille comes to mind.

You think you're Hot, try living & working in Death Valley, CA like I did. 125 degrees F. in the shade, and the nearest shade was 50 miles away. :>(

I was helping pave a parking lot for a nearby city last week. Nineteen year old inspector kept checking compaction and telling the boss it wasn't compact enough. The light weight compactor kept making edge marks because the asphalt would not cool, so they could not put the heavy one on until probably three hours after laying the asphalt. The super for the prime contractor kept watching the kid, and when he was leaving the site at the end of the day, he told me that he finally called the kid's boss and got him to call the kid off. The heavy roller didn't go onto the last part of the job until after 7:00 PM.
