speed cameras on I-90??

Driving back from the Boston area Sunday we passed under two frameworks above the road that looked like they were for signs but had some small apparatus hanging above each lane and we could see strobes flashing. Looked like there was one pointed in both directions on each lane. Western Mass between the 35 and 50 mile markers. Speed cameras??? I guess I'll know if I get a ticket in the mail. Good day for them, everybody was doing 75 to 80.
On another note, all the way there and back and didn't see one roadkill deer. That's a first.

Probably toll, Austin, TX has one or more, takes picture of front tag. I live in KS, no front tag, no money.

It was the Mass Pike. We usually make that trip two or three times a year but not since Christmas, 20114. They're new since then and we get toll tickets.

If you don't have an E-Z pass you will be getting something in the mail but it's not a ticket it's a bill for the tolls. I-90 is the Mass. Turnpike, a toll road. Mass DOT has gone to electronic toll collection almost everywhere. That doesn't mean that they have laid off the toll booth workers.;>)

MN has cameras all over the state to check road conditions, anyone can look at the surface, the temperature, traffic conditions and check the weather. They are kind of handy, we do a lot of traveling, and one of them looks right at the driveway to my grandfathers homestead.

Don't think they are speed cameras, they haven't caught on...Yet...

But some states are using them in construction zones!

Likely they were toll road cameras. They seem to be going in everywhere here in Texas. So far they have all been well marked, it would be hard to get on one and not know it.

But I have found the GPS seems to be preprogrammed to do it's best to get you on them!

If you do get a bill in the mail, be absolutely sure to pay it on time! I've seen news reports about their astronomical late charges and relentless collection efforts! Horror stories of lost payments, improper billing, a single lost payment turning into thousands of dollars of indisputable late charges! They can't bring criminal charges here, but can destroy credit, hold registration, and hold driver license renewal.

I've never been on one, don't have a toll tag, and avoid them at all cost!

With the Indiana and Illinois toll roads you can use the "open lane toll" high speed toll lanes with your EZ Pass, IPass, etc, OR go online within a certain amount of time (48 hours?) and pay the toll without penalty. I remember being surprised when the toll attendant told us we were already paid at the first NY toll booth- our IPAss was in the glove box, we had no idea it worked in NY as well.

Here in NJ so many people B****** about how many MILLIONS of bucks they collected that those cameras have been removed. People were getting hit in the buts cause of slamming on the brakes. Hundreds of accidents. Now on the PA turnpike bridge where it goes into NJ there is an automatic charge system. They take a picture of your plate and send you a bill in the mail.

SH130 from Georgetown to Seguin TX has those for toll purposes. I always take it since the speed limit is 85 and it makes that 131 miles go quickly.

I know they work because last time I took that road in a rental car it took about two months to get the bill, but Enterprise eventually hit my credit card for the toll.

I once sold a car and the new owner did not transfer the title.i found this out as I got a toll bill from the golden gate bridge and a nice pic of the license plate. I sent them letters and a bill of sale. They would not let up so I just ignored them. They quit sending bills but I probably have a,warrant in California. I have never drove across the golden gate in my life and probably never will. Anyway moral to the story is pull your plates or make sure they transfer the title before you give over ownership.

On one of our trips to New England it was raining and I was confused and I went through the ez-pass gate (it was one of those where you pay when you get off the highway, no ticket, etc.) When I went through I realized the mistake and stopped to run back and pay, the person near the gate also ran out and just motioned us to go on. A few months later the rental company hit the credit card with a fine of about $35 (toll was like a buck or so). At the time we'd forgotten about the incident and I disputed the charge, thinking we weren't where they said we were. They took it off and we never heard about it again.
