My 11yr Old Nephew

Last Wednesday evening we had my nephew over for supper and to mow our lawn with our Zero Turn mower. This was the very first time he has
mowed grass or operated any type of equipment.
He did catch on very fast, he's very smart. He has to keep up with his two older sisters.
I watched him the whole time while he mowed. I stopped him one time to tell him to turn around slow and not fast as he was doing because he
had trouble recovering after turning around. His reply was, "well this is the way I do it on my video game". That was a classic. He got
better as he mowed.

Very good, many young people dont get taught anything like that till its time to support themselves.Had a young fellow 18 years old working with me one time for 2 weeks,,,couldnt teach him how to mix cement. I gave up.mixed it myself...lol

My wife, now retired, worked for years in student housing at the University of Nebraska.

She said she couldn't count, or believe, the number of incoming freshmen she had to teach how to do laundry. There was no end of 18 and 19 year olds who had never ever even run a load of clothes through a washer. Funny part of it was, boys didn't seem to have a problem with it, it was the girls that were clueless.

Our daughter, who has always had an independent streak, said basically the same thing when she matriculated at Nebraska Wesleyan University and lived in a dorm. She said it was an absolute crime how some parents sent their kids off to college totally unprepared to cope on their own.

Yeah, when I was a freshman at Central Michigan University, one of the guys down the hall learned the lesson the hard way. Washed his whities with a brand new college sweatshirt. College colors were maroon and gold. He wore pink skivvies the rest of the semester.

So in reality, he taught you how to mix cement. I did that as a kid to my Mom several times. I could fix anything, was artistic, did all crafts, but I be doggoned if I could figure out how to iron my shirts. They would be covered with wrinkles and then she would show me how "just one more time" LOL
