within the past years I have heard these word said behind my back ( he buys Junk tractors). Clearly I have bought junk tractors but boy do they look great when I am done with them. What gets to these people is that the tractors look like they where back in the day. It makes me feel good when people understand that it is hard work and doing your home work on that model of that tractor. I think you all know what I am saying. I use to work in a school district as a custodian. I heard a lot of workers make fun of the fact that I did not have a job with equipment. Now they come over this summer for a retirement party and see the tractors seating in the carport. You might say the look and are quiet. Some had said to me who tractors do you have in the back? I answer back there mine. I have four tractors plus hook ups all are restored and are in working order. I never have to rent equipment because I have the stuff I need. I wonder what my boss thinks about it now after he has been over here. Yes I do have Allis Chalmers, Case, Farmall and International harvester skid steer loader. You might say my tractors are bigger and more power full than the school district machines (L.O.L). When they asked what I was going to do when I retired I said I am going in to a small farming scale using my old tractors. No body was laughing after that.

If these people are such a-holes that they can't even wait until you're out of sight to talk behind your back and make fun of you to your face, why would you invite them to your property and treat them to a party?

On my retirement day I would have walked out the door with both middle fingers raised high. "Catch ya never, b*****s!"

I have bought tractors that everyone thought was junk and got them mechanically back to good shape. Always costs more than they will ever be worth again but I don't care. Never got anything painted as I want to do field work with them so painting is a low priority. Maybe someday they will all look good. I really enjoy taking a tractor left for dead, fixing it up and using it for what it was made for.

Once when I quit a high profile job in a small town, I threatened to walk down the center of Main Street with a sprig of mistletoe tied to my coat tail on my last day.

Anymore you have to have an office job not to be looked down on. I'm glad my office rolls through the acres here on the farm. Those tractors only need diesel and they never talk behind your back. I think they say it right to my face when they break down!

Brent I have heard the same & most recently I talked with a guy who told me the John Deere 60 I purchased at a sale
15 years ago for 650.00 was JUNK. Said He must have been wrong for saying it because We still use that 60 everyday. At the time
everyone thought the engine needed to be overhauled, what it needed was the intake manifold replaced & a Battery. It
needed a few other things to make it pretty, but the cracked intake was it's problem. I've never touched the starter, genny
since we've owned it , installed new seat cushions, replaced the grills & adjusted the brakes added P/Steering & one rear
tire. The 801 3 Point is perfect, pto clutch adjusted. Replaced the engine clutch disc's. We call it the pull'n fool because
we have another 60 just to keep them straight. The man said that I must on knew something he didn't or I was Lucky, I showed
him the book on the tractor that's had what been done to it since I've owned & most of everything that's been done would have
been done on it if it were a new tractor when I purchased it. It has never been a tax write off for us, but has earned it's keep
& still does everyday. I added paint & decals to it once I was sure everything worked as it should, and I would buy another JUNK
model 60 like it in a second... This is a example of one of the FEW junk Tractors I've Purchased...

I bought a Case db 995 to fix up, took a chance on it with a broken crank. My grandma threw a fit when I showed her one day when she stopped over. You need to put your money in the bank she said. I fixed the engine, painted it up like brand new and sold it. I put a couple thousand in my pocket. Now how long would it take to make a couple thousand on interest in the bank off of about $1200????

Not to long ago I was in the military in the reserves. We were at a bad unit where the people in charge hated reservist for whatever reason. On my ADT one guy basically locked me in a cage for 12 days straight and then asked if he could come over and look at my tractor. Yeah lets hang out you idiot, I dont ever want to see you again. About 2 years later under a different command they finally eliminated the reserve at that unit. They tried to destroy out carriers and said we went awol and all that on our last day. Im at my new unit and see on the computer that they routed it up the line that I was missing in action for a day and was waiting for hell to rain down on me. Then it all vanished and I found out one of my buddies who was low rank but was a high up in the indiana state government was fighting this clown over emails and said let me know who I need to talk to above you. Then it all went away.

Just this morning I was up at 4 am getting ready to make pickles. I got 14 quarts done before my dad called me at 7:30 am. He was happy because the parts I order had got to his house last night. I see that some of you people understand that guy's like me are happy to build things that some times money in the bank is depressing. My dad has money in the bank and only gets 0.02% interest and yes every year he has to pay taxies to the government. My older sister and older brother looks forward to getting the money when he dies. I retired because when dad needs help now I got the time to do the work. Plus my employer never saw who he had on the job and who really cared if the job was done right. yes there missing me but that is okay. I am a God fearing person I honor my elders.

Let the junk tractors go to someone who has the availability like your self,to restore them. I think some people call a tractor junk, because they don't understand how to get it back in shape again. Both my mowing tractors, the first is a MF 203 with a three cylinder Perkins engine, came to me at a good price. The motor had a rod through the bock. Some would consider it junk. I considered it a good deal. I think I paid 500.00 for it. I stripped the block down, welded the hole, bought a engine kit, and a crank, and a rod. 12 years later it's still going strong. My JD 401 industrial was the same thing, a four cylinder with a crank case full of water, and a spun main. I paid 500.00, for what some would also consider junk, again to me it was a good deal. I Had the block line bored, and installed a engine kit. I have a good tractor that I have put a lot of hours on already. I'll take a junk tractor any day. Stan
